Covered by jungle, the most beautiful places in the sacred city. Abhayagiriya and Lankarama Vihara Precinct where there is a monastery complex, very old royal palace, Sandakadapahana, elephant pond, caves and many more.
අපි මේ ඇතුල් වන්නේ වනාන්තරයෙන් වැසී ගිය ඉතා පැරණි ආරාම සංකීර්ණය නටබුන් සහිත විශාල පුරාවිද්‍යා පරිශ්‍රයකටයි. මෙම කොටස අනුරාධපුරය ලංකාරාමය පන්සල පිටුපසින් ඇති වනයෙන් වසාගත් භූමියයි. මෙම ඇත් පොකුණ හා ඉතා පැරණි නටබුන් සහිත ආරාම පරිශ්‍රය අභයගිරිය පුරාවිද්‍යා සංරක්ෂිත කලාපයට අයත් වෙයි.
එමෙන්ම විශාඛා සිටුදුව විසින් බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේ උදෙසා පූජා කල පූර්වාරාමය මෙය බවත් බුදුන් වහන්සේ වැඩහිටි කුටිය පොකුණට ඉහළින් වං පසින් පිහිටා තිබෙන බවත්, එය ඝන කැලෑවෙන් වැසී ඇති බවත් ලක්දිව සැබෑ ඉතිහාසය දන්නා අයගේ සහ ඒ පිළිබඳව ගවේෂණය කරන අයගේ මතයයි.
ඊට අමතරව අනිත් සියල්ලත් කුඩා කුඩා සංඝාරාම විදිහට තිබුණු ගොඩනැගිලි වේ. ගොඩනැගිලි ප්‍රමාණය ගණන් කරන්නත් බැරි තරම්. ඉතින් අපි තීරණය කරා ඔයාලා නොදැකපු ඒ ස්ථාන ටික ඔයාලට පෙන්නන්න
There is a large pond behind Lankaramaya temple. To the left of the elephant pond we enter a large archeological compound with the remains of a very old palace covered in forest. This section is the forested area behind the Lankaramaya temple. I think the monastery compound with its elephant pond and very old ruins belongs to the Abhayagiriya Archeological Reserve Zone.
Also, those who know the real history of Lakdiwa are of the opinion that this is the purvarama offered by Visakha Situduva for Lord Buddha and that the house where the Buddha lived is located on the side of the curve above the pond and it is covered by thick jungle.
Apart from that, all the other buildings were small sangharamas. The number of buildings is too many to count.
They contain a large number of uncarved small moonstones, stone pillars and lotus flowers.
Very few people remember that Abhayagiriya is a huge monastery complex.
The main reason for this is that when many of us go to Anuradhapura, we are confined to the traditional Atamasthana pilgrimage.
