I love seeing these older loadouts on the channel. Especially here in the U.S. no one is running kit like this and that’s what I love about these videos.

It’s pretty rare over here outside of themed games. DPM was/is used by hire gunners/rentals so it just wasn’t cool to use for most players.

For early 90s there were still SLRs and Sterlings knocking about, think there's a few pics of squadies in Kuwait cutting about with god's own bang stick on their back. Guess the other option for Brit kit would be a gpmg. You can do an ok 10ft based on a m240 with the flash hider changed and picatinny removed :)

I joined the Army mid 90’s, I remember being issued / wearing pretty all of the kit you’ve mentioned (other than the really ally SADF kit). You’ve generally got the load outs spot on. I hated making a patrol pack with the side pouches, but that’s what we had to do.

You did miss the nickname that CS95 trousers got, early issues had a tendency to wear through at the crotch and it was known for lads to pretty much tear through them. Later issue had better fabric.

We got given the soldier 94 stuff for Bosnia. That the stuff with the yellow cloth backed DPM with normal buttons. That stuff was swapped out pretty quickly to soldier 95 as it found to be unsuitable as it went fluffy , faded very quickly and heavy when wet. The most common kit however was windproof smock , tropical trousers and a ARKits chest rig.

The PLCE pouch pull tags are much less likely to pull out if you put them in the loop hole first followed by the insert so that the pull tabs are hanging down having gone through the loop first.

German Gortex mountain boots were popular and then the high leg ProBoot with cambrelle lining. Another must have was a Buffalo wind or pile shirt. They were so popular, Buffalo did a special version with subdued logo. Patrol packs were invariably Berghaus Munro sacks in green, or the Hot Earth version with the waterproof base. I also used an old 58 pattern poncho roll on top of my PLCE pouches with my goretex in. Just made life that bit easier.

The windproof smocks used to be well over £100 back in the 90’s. I had one issued and I bought my own Arctic version that had a rank slide front and back plus wired hood. Never seen badges of rank sewn on them though. Now I still wear a 90’s style windproof, but in MTP, made by Keela. The standard issue PCS smock is a bit heavy and too many pockets.

Great video. We also had the visor clips on our mk6 for public order. Not sure that would be massively practical in an airsoft setting. Loved the windproof and tropical mix, we often sewed sock tops as cuffs, was my summer go-to with a para smock for the winter. And scrim or shemagh to keep the snow/mozzies out. We used green sprayed m16s on ops with 4/73 Sphinx Bty.

Great question. Off the top of my head they didn’t really get it until Afghan/Iraq kicked off. GPMG was sometimes carried at section level depending on the battalion. Seeing as GPMG isn’t available without serious mods you could get away with using an early pattern Minimi.
