Arts really helps me to relax too. My drawing may not get many likes. But it me, expressing myself. The connection between lines, the filling in of colors, make me relax. Everyone should do painting or drawing.. skills not so vital skills can be trained.. arts really can relax our self. The ability to transfer what in your mind to paper is great, the process. After you finished painting or drawing, hang them up, or magnet to the fridge. If you draw or paint enough, can also publish as a book, to encourage yourself and others. I published a book of my writing, when i feel down, i just pick it up and read.. wow i can write! Self discovery moments.

Thank you so much. I rarely comment on anything but feel compelled to say you are helping me so much. Last fall I lost both my parents. Then a dear friend (Jon Thocker) perished in an airplane crash. We are the same age (60 at the time) And flew together often. I am still in disbelief. I have been racked w loss and grief. Your painting helps me. Thank you again. I am going to get some supplies and start to paint again.

I love this tutorial, keep it loose, don't focus on the detail, just have fun. With me, its the focus on the detail in life and worrying about it that perpetuates the overwhelming feelings. This style of loose painting is great, as long as the values makes sense, paint the sky pink and the mountains blue. Take a holiday from worry.

@@crotnem I started with Katie's Rose which I painted for my mother-in-law whose name is Rose. Midway through I literally threw it in the trash, my wife reminded me this was for stress relief so I picked it back up and finished. Mine was different from Katie's but in the end it looked great. I was surprised. This is her video for the rose: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqSmfIKCiN-Lirc

ever since then I've gotten a lot of canvases and paint and have learned not to treat them as so precious, if i mess up so what... even Voka says sometimes he starts over. I gave myself permission to experiment without pressure. now i do paint alongs with several artists and i always pick up some techniques. When paint my own creations all those lessons shine through. I think Katie makes impressionism so approachable. She's a great teacher. And KZbin is so awesome for learning from masters like her.

I happened to see one of your tutorials and I suddenly got my artistic desires back. I’ve tried five of your tutorials Katie and I’m loving it. I love and really appreciate how honest you are - about mental health in general but also how much painting and colours can help. For me, it is painting seascapes that help boost my mood - the blues and greens. I find nothing is as helpful as that (except walking the dog in the beautiful countryside) and therefore I paint lots of the same thing ie. sea, water, waves & clouds etc. I find each of your videos teach me something new - I use acrylics so am really enjoying your acrylic tutorials. I gained a lot of insight about packaging up completed (sold) works, from your video on that subject. I would love to know what you suggest should be done to store paintings that are complete and ready for sale, but you don’t have enough space to have them all hanging on the wall 🙂. To protect the paint surface, do they need to be wrapped (what in?) and stored anywhere special? Cool room, warm room etc? Would very much appreciate your advice and thoughts on this. Keep up the excellent work, really enjoy seeing your videos each week. Thank you 😊

This is so amazing Katie! I love your tutorials. I started watching them a year ago, and they inspired me to start painting! I always wanted to paint, but did not dare to start, because I doubted myself too much. Now I paint almost everyday and it gives new meaning to my life. It gave me hope when I had none. I still suffer with bulimia, anxiety and bipolar disorder with lots of heavy depressions, but now I actually find a meaning to my existence. Painting is so therapeutic. Thank you so much for introducing me to it in a calm and motivating way! I also love it when you talk about how you became an artist ++ you are inspirational and lovely! Best wishes! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
