i think one of the best parts of using art for therapy is that you focus on it for hours and your mind can’t think of anything else. it’s awesome to paint on a bad day because it makes the day end sooner if that makes sense haha

Thank you for bringing this to light (pun intended). My family has a history of depression that frequently leads to suicidal thoughts and feelings. Growing up, it wasn't talked about and I attempted to take my life before I turned 22. My daughters are 18 and 19 now and have been raised in an environment where mental health is freely discussed and not stigmatized. We were able to identify the signs early with both of them and began therapy in middle school. Bless you for being so transparent and vulnerable via your art and your KZbin channel -- awareness, acceptance and early intervention is the only way we will ever see a decrease in suicide rates and attempts.

Sorry to hear you've struggled with depression too, it seems most do at some point. That's amazing that you have created that open and free environment for your teen daughters. I feel passionate about creating these tutorials and giving somewhere for our depression to 'be'. Thanks for your comment and for sharing with us!

I like your painting and admire you for opening up about depression, it invites other to worked though their stuff with art. I worked through my anxiety/depression/PTSD with a Journal Therapist, then later I did some training and have facilitated a writing for wellbeing group for some years. Lots of members were lapsed artist/crafters so we decided to do a collage with words workshop earlier this year. Everyone loved it so much we have an arty/creative/word workshop about one a month we all feel the benefit. Warm wishes, Karen

Bonjour Katie.
