The touchscreen UI is less refined than the Form 2's, but the whole machine also sells for about what you'd spend on 2L of Formlabs resin, so...

Your "Supports" tutorial on the Wonder Woman model was more helpful than ANY tutorial I've seen so far. Been FDM printing for a year, and just ordered the Photon S today. This section, plus your recommendation of software, will be extremely helpful. Thank you. PS- Wear gloves. I mean, you're already bald, but cancer bald is not good. ;) Not saying resin causes it, but why risk it?

I heard a lot of complaints regarding plastic cases, some of them very agressive. Honestly, I am 100% interested on the actual product and the end result of my work. They can do it out of cardbox, I couldn't care less, if it does the job right....
@Versus3D
@Versus3D 5 жыл бұрын
I have used many different brands of DLP machines, and the Photon X for print quality smokes them all. Would metal be more sturdy? Yeah of course, but compared to other plastic bodied ones I've used it's still sturdier.
@Gadgetmawombo
@Gadgetmawombo 5 жыл бұрын
@@Versus3D To me it looks like they put all the metal they would have used for the casing into that behemoth double z rail. If you look at any printer in this price range, even the coveted Epax, they don't even come close. But of course everyone focuses on the plastic case that literally doesn't affect the print ability at all.

What’s your opinion on the housing the plastic shell seems flimsy to me. Do you think it’s going to have issues with long term integrity ?
@Versus3D
@Versus3D 5 жыл бұрын
I mean, it's plastic, not metal like the original Photon. Honestly I use this thing every day and I don't think there's an issue with it, but I clearly don't slam the door up and down and I take reasonably good care of it. I may have a different opinion after 6 months of daily use... but for now I don't see a problem.

if they start selling this product eventually I will get it but currently still not available to get here in sweden... Unless you wanna order directly from US, and that includes paying lots of extra fees doubleing the cost for it, and thus I'd just get a more expensive printer instead that is beeing sold here or just not get one at all.

Thanks a lot for the video! Lots of useful information and I really like the way you explain things. I've got a question about this printer, if you compare it to a conventional FDM printer, is there a HUGE difference in print quality? I'm thinking of getting my first 3D printer and I really like Photon S, but I want to be able to print big things and it has quite small printing area, but at the same time I'm a perfectionist by nature and I want highest possible quality, lol!))

Hi . Has anyone tried printing technical part using anycubic photon S. I work with IOT companies to build their products. i am planning to buy this machine and i wonder how accurate the printer is . Usually we have a tolerance of 0.1-0.2 mm between the mating parts. Is the machine accurate enough for printing enclosures and other mechanical models?
@NO-yx6yl
@NO-yx6yl 5 жыл бұрын
I bought one for engineering applications, what I'm looking for in a review video is technical comparison data. Per example: 1 Does the Biobased resin decrease the needed print time? If so, by how much? 2 What are the achievable fine detail abilities of the Anycubic? What does the 25 micron quality close up look like compared to different machines? 3 What is the limits of printing capabilities in regards to the delicateness and fragility allowed, by both the Anycubic and the Biobased resin? Reading that the hardness rating advertised as 80 for the Biobased resin, is this harder (how much) than most resins? A note on print demos, Wire frame stylized models show off more about each printer's and resin's capabilities as well does sever overhangs and and thin points of structure. Wonder woman and the castle would have shown more hollowed out to as thin as possible while remaining stable as a simple example.

Mine hasn't arrived yet, but I've done some digging and found the following: 1. The Anycubic plant based resin should give you some speed up, maybe up to 2x, but you need to experiment with your particular setup. No absolute spec is given. Their transparent resins are even quicker. The main selling point of the plant resin is reduced smell. 2. The advertised XY resolution is 49 microns, so don't expect miracles. With light bleed and other practical considerations I wouldn't count on better than 100 microns. For functional prototypes it's fine, if you need ultimate accuracy I'd suggest you're using the wrong process. 2.a If 49 microns on the XY seems much, you'd probably be better off with a laser machine. The Form 2 I used to use professionally produced gorgeous models with the FL resins, but for my personal use it's waaaaaaaaay too sensitive and prohibitively expensive (*literally* an order of magnitude more. Equipment *and* resins.) 3. Getting a data sheet on these things is nigh-on impossible. And there I thought Formlabs were bastards about it 🤣... The most I've been able to tease out of Anycubic's rather lacking documentation is an advertised tensile strength of just over 20 MPa. No specification given on any post-curing requirements. I'll be able to test these claims myself when the machine and resins arrive and I make a few test pieces.

FFS, I'm far from a worry wart or safety nut (I ride a dirtbike through trails over 20mph) but FFS, ALWAAAYYYYSSS put on gloves and mask. Personally I wouldn't be letting it in the house at all - and I sit 10 feet from my Prusa FDM printing PLA. Once the bottles are open, assume cancer has been unleashed. Odor free, or unbelievably toxic smelling, it doesn't matter. There is no debate about how dangerous resin or epoxy is. Inhale fumes and it bonds inside your lungs for good. I've had 2 tumors removed over years, father died of metastatic cancer this year. Put it in a garage - check on it periodically. I wear an N100 chemical respirator and nitrile gloves at all times. It ain't worth the risk. I may hit a tree one day, but the odds are probably less than getting sick from the resin, IPA, acetone combos if I didn't take precautions.

As a general rule one shouldn't be breathing the fumes because of health reasons, regardless of whether it bothers you or not. We still don't know if these resin fumes are carcinogenic or not. Call me distrustful, but better safe than sorry. Just place it in a ventilated acrylic box with a fan and tubing to a window.
