Most likely spot on there. Thou I wouldn't give the JR guys full credit for a hike in 944 prices. The market does that all by itself. Agreed these guys won't help that. ... If it did burst then my whole portfolio would be junk and worth nothing and lots of other people. I’m still in the green on lots of crypto I bought. The house market and auto markets will burst and lots of people will lose their asses and be upside down on loans and go through foreclosures etc… I’m not saying crypto bubble wont burst but it hasn’t yet. @@DaBrownSlimeGuy Adam has already told me Bitcoin was a bad example. .... I was referring to the crash related to this Vin Wiki story when Bitcoin was ~19000 then crashed to ~ 12/15,000. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4qbZ6l-bN9sp6M ... I had to laugh when "non financial" KZbin channels were suggesting their viewers purchase Bitcoin because "city councils" were getting in on the act, purchasing Bitcoin also. This I believe overheated the Bitcoin market by non [traditional] financial traders..hence the spike to 19000, & subsequent minor crash. Bitcoin was trading at 65,000 early 2021? ... My point was that the JR guys were speculators in an already established market for Porsche sports seat - they of themselves, weren't solely - responsible for the price hikes just facilitated them..

I sold the trashed sport seats from my 83 944 to a guy building a 911. He paid $1,700 about 20 minutes after I posted the listing because he's building like a $300k 911 and needed those early Recaros. The guy a bought the car from had gotten tons of offers for the seats but was a "purist" and refused to separate them from the car they belonged in. The first thing I did was take em out and sell em, payed for basically the whole car.

I hate these guys. Hate them. Ruining stock 944 cars and raising the price of parts owners need. The sad part as an owner of two 16V is these cars are rare and have always been rare. There are probably less than five thousand 944S still on the road in the US, now two less. They may not be desirable but they are one of the few rare cars an average Joe can own. A 944S has- The engine and drive train- Glass- Unusual instrumentation- Seats, especially the electric big bolster sport seats- The wheels, the 928 gullideckels- The steering wheel- The Hvac unit- The radio- Carpets - Door cards- Alternator, power steering pump ac pump and rack That’s going to be about $8k on parts right there. Most of them are worth more in parts, but that’s not the point. What we need is more 944s on the road.

I owned a Porsche Parts business 20 years ago and this is nothing new. Sports seats and Fuch wheels were worth $$$$ back then too. Even the non-sport seats have value. The 944 Turbo has always held value and is only going up. The NA cars have never really held any value at all. The Factory M030 sport suspension also is worth $$$. What is amazing is that 20 years later this appears to be a "new" thing. It has always been a thing. What is a really scary thing is a 944 Turbo with a 968 or 944 S2 3.0 block using the Turbo 2.5 heads with upgraded Turbo and Stand Alone fuel management. That is scary.

Below 3000 RPM the Turbo feels the same as a base model, unfortunately, but they’re really fun from 3000-6000 I put a 944S engine in a 924S with the original transmission, and removed weight to get it under 2500 pounds. So it has about the same power to weight ratio as a stock 944 Turbo, with shorter gears and no lag, and is faster in the curves. IMO it’s almost the perfect version of the 924/944 platform.

For about 10 years I made my living off of Volvo 240, 740, 760, 780. I knew what years 89-93 DL County Tour Pack/VIN of 245 Station wagon NA were the highest trim level that had aluminum rear hatch w/defrost & wiper (pull switchs and control boxes), doors w/power windows, locks and mirrors (remember pull switches from center consol and solenoid) and hood (raised center but lower than steel to almost look flat). Those placed on a Turbo car dropped 320lbs off car with steel, no joke, plus alloy hood disapaited heat faster allowing motor to run cooler. Those could sale for $350 to $500 each and my preferred junk yard sold them for $50. Those cars usually also had the dash insert with Clock, Alt, Oil guages worth $80 to $120 my yard $5. They had the smaller 15" sport steering wheel with 240 on horn instead of Volvo-sale for $150 to $200 yard cost $5 Some were optioned with the 15" Momo made steering wheel wrapped in stitched leather with Volvo by Momo on the horn. They had a dash with Speed center in MPH white &KM/H Yellow, milage in KM/H, Tach with redline at 6,500rpm in white letters because it was built hardie, water temp and fuel guages that sold for $100-$150. The motor (B230F) in these had forged rods, pistons, crank, rockers, cromo rods &valves, higher flow head, ported and factory polished intake, larger than normal throttle body, injectors, valve diameter, better thermostat, larger radiator that was 4 core instead of two, higher output coil, dist, wires, high temp plugs iridium tipped, better flow factory exaust manifold, drasticly higher compression, these motors with harness under 80,000km could sale for $1,500 to$2,300 with yard cost of $300. So much money to be made off TurboBrick heads if you know the cars. The B230F 89-90 was the best built short block Volvo made for the 200, 700, 900 era other than the B234FT 16V DOHC not found in the US or Canada could easily be turned turbo with a stand alone programmable ECU, HEI Coil pack conversion, 70mm throttle body 377-59095 from a 940, IPD adjustable timing gear, high volume intercooler & pipes from a 740, add poly bushes all 'round, sway bars F&R, chassis braces, adjustable gas shocks, 2"drop IPD sport springs, Polaris wheels 17" wheels with 215/45/17 rear 205/45/17 front. You have a sleeping monster at 350 to 500hp from a 4 bang depending on turbo,ECU and exahust used, boost level, stock 8v head or DOHC 16V swap and a few other details. Get those alloy body parts, add a F& R seats sunroofs to cut more lbs but add cool factor, strip interior to minimal and change to carbon or kevlar generic panels. How far to take it.

I bought a 911 Carrera cabriolet which I sold and took another older 911 Carrera plus boxster in px and cash Sold the 911 and took a e500 Merc plus cash and sold that & made money on it and had all my money back plus a free boxster, sold the boxster and had enough to buy a free 911 Carrera . That’s shrewd negotiating

Get something that you can get parts for easily and not expensive. Start with a simple car like a Civic. Parts are cheap, the car will be pretty reliable and you'll never have trouble finding the parts. My current project is a 2006 Z71 Suburban which is on my channel.

@@TW-fm3lo that's a cool project. I'm not into the old school muscle cars, but that would definitely be a cool project for someone into those, if it made financial sense for them.

Haha, yep. I did many Shitbox rallies and used local Falcon and commodore wagons. Quite often we’d sell the rare option parts then rally the car and sell it at the end with all the money raised donated to the cancer council.

Somewhat interesting, but same time... why sell the best parts of the car? At first it sounds rough but at same time, the wrecked car is a flagged salvage title, so might as well help somebody with their nice car make it nicer! Be one thing if parted out a complete rare car that is in good shape for profit, but for more common stuff like this story? Not so bad. Could even swap with cash. "We have this crashed with nice interior. Want to trade interiors plus cash?"

Cuz those specific parts are worth way more in the right car. In the desirable cars it's, appreciated, in the basic cars, nobody cares about the fancy options

If you are in it just to profit i guess this is good knowledge, but by parting out components of an exotic car, you destroy its monetary value and its uniqueness as a car.

We bought it at auction and had it shipped to us...so after fees...we made $100 bucks. Who is buying these seats for these prices? If you have that money, just have the seats re-upholstered and you can even get vintage leather. It's not that hard. Fabric reclaimed exist. My mom redid her whole sectional in vintage leather from Mercedes cars. Cost her $2300.
