What I love about this movie is how subtle it is, yet still so incredibly easy to follow on an instinctive level. I feel like the undertones of when Mac says "Anytime" to Dillon after he gets that scorpion off his back is his way of letting him know that he sees him for what he is. They're all a team and have each other's backs, but it's becoming more and more clear that Dillon led them into a death trap for his own selfish ends. And it was Mac's way of shining a light on the despicable nature of his betrayal of the team. He was conveying his disgust and disappointment in him, but still demonstrating his commitment to the team and that they all still need each other to get out of the situation alive. It really elevated his character.

I agree with your statement from a thematic perspective…the whole “scorpion and the frog” thing…but I think this scene is more for the audience than the characters involved. Mack doesn’t know the whole story; he’s screwing with Dillon because he knows he can, and wants to drive home the fact that NO ONE, except for Dutch, to their knowledge, trusts him. I dunno the more I write this comment the more I realize I’m mostly agreeing with you I kinda forgot what my point of contention was….🤷♂️🤣🤣

Billy first senses the Predator after the attack on the guerrilla camp. However, this is not the result of a "sixth sense" or heightened state of awareness, which Billy demonstrates in a later segment. Rather, Billy hears the Predator mimic his own laugh that he had shared with Hawkins a few seconds before. If you listen closely, you will hear the Predator attempt to mimic the laugh somewhat quietly, which unnerves Billy immediately, causing him to look up toward the trees.

@@TheBlackHole_05 yep. It also seemed the Predator made it a personal feud with Mac as a result. The Predator afterwards killed Mac best friend Blain & stuck around long enough so Mac can finally take a look at him in the eye (revealing to him his eyes only). Then sometimes afterwards he baited Mac to chase him so he could trap & kill him. Mac was at first the calm & cool character type but that Predator drove him crazy & I think the Predator enjoyed toying with him.

There's a magic to this movie that you can only enjoy the first time you watch it. If you know nothing about this film the first time you watch it tricks you into thinking it's some sort of action hero team up movie when it's actually a horror movie. In addition, they break away from the typical horror trope of a a bunch of physically average-weak characters vs one superhuman threat. In fact, the whole movie plays as an action movie until the predator starts stalking them.
@thehonorablereese10 ай бұрын
That is why the Predator is so scary. They show how buff and elite these six guys are by singlehandedly taking down an enemy base of 30 plus with barely a scratch. Yet none of their training or tactics are any match for the Predator.

I just realized that the predator noticed when Mac said “over here” it attracted Dillon to come closer. Meaning the predator learned how to lure him and used it once he killed him. All be it when Dillon already saw Mac dead. They even used the line as a “what if” when Mac was actually alerting him again when Dillon was alone for suspense. Great attention to detail!

There are a lot of clues that analogize the Predator with human hunters: hanging and skinning/dressing game, taking trophies, and in this case: mimicking sounds to attract game. The Predator recording and mimicking voices is like a hunter using a duck or turkey call to get birds to come investigate further.
