Should not be used on cb 4.0khz too wide ,only narrow best as prev comments,filters on cb are very tight bandwidths on super narow fm 8K0 F3E. Hope that answers your question why,just due to history. With 4K, the sound is louder. With 2K, the sound is clearer.

You can improve things a little using the service menu, then 4K is much louder and cleaner and 2K is slightly quieter and also cleaner! But please do this at your own risk because it stays the same, so back up the data on the device beforehand!

2K is for narrowband (NFM) systems. 4K is for wideband FM systems. Commonly, certified CB uses 2K, and many HAMs and also some HAM repeaters use 4K. 4K will sound a lot louder to receiving stations, but it can be "too much" for some fixed mode NFM receivers, and this might make you sound distorted to people on those radios. 73

4K wins ,, a little more defined and smooth around the edges , at least to my ears
