For anyone that want to change the main knob to volume : Just for your information you change the main knob to control volume only in chirp settings ! I changed mine in the settings and it works perfectly. Now to change channels with the knob i just push P6 {channel} and i can now change channels with the knob.After you make the change in chirp just upload back to the radio. {Anytone 778uv}

@tgc52013 жыл бұрын
This radio is available now (July 2021) from various sources as: Anytone AT-778UV, Retevis RT-95, CRT Micron UV and Midland DBR2500. Some arrive "Unlocked" for the North American Band plan; some do not. There are a few YT videos describing how to handle that. I think all of these sources offer the Owner's Manual and the Programming Software as a free download now. There is now a Ver. 2 and a Ver. 3 and you need to know if yours is the "RDW" or the "VOX" version. CHIRP works very now IF (and only IF) you select the correct version for your particular radio.

Can you get a list of repeaters inside the program, like chirp does? This gives us the option to locate Repeaters, and then copy and paste instead of entering 1-by-1 with all their individual settings. I seen you open a .dat file with a list of repeaters. @Echo_5_Charlie9 ай бұрын
The smaller the spacing, the better your chances are that the channels will try to run over each other, but the more channels you'll be able to fit. The larger the spacing, the less channels you'll be able to store, BUT, the channels won't be trying to interfere with one another. More spacing more better

Good afternoon K5ATA!!! Thank you very much for the programming video. I may be picking one of these radios up from a friend this week and if I do, I'll be referring to this video. My question is, I see this has "dual watch" but does it have 'dual receive' (assuming I hook this radio up to a dual band antenna!!)? The reason I'm asking is because when we are at events in my area (Triathlons, Baseball Hall of Fame Induction, 5K/10K runs, etc), we run both a VHF repeater and a UHF repeater. People use one or the other depending on their location but if possible, we need radios that will not only see when they are both being used but the radio needs to put the audio from the displayed 'sub' channel through the speaker too (no, not necessarily at the same time--but would it??). Does this make sense or should I reword this???!!! Thanks, W2RRK

I bet you have the EU version radio and not the USA version. On page 29 of the manual look at the first box called "Frequency Range". If you can't program a frequency that this radio should cover then you have the EU version and need to unlock the frequency ranges. There are a couple of KZbins on this. It's easy to do just follow the sequence of their instructions closely. This was the problem on my radio and it drove me crazy and cost me hours of messing with it. I almost sent it back.

Just grabbed mine, for some reason on certain VHF channels the display will flash "DC LO" and not allow me to transmit. Unit seems to be getting 13.6V which should be enough. Do you have any clue what could be causing this?
@iwontlagback72362 жыл бұрын
You probably need to unlock it. You can find videos on youtube to do it.
@iwontlagback72362 жыл бұрын
Actually DC LOW could just be an internal fault in the radio. I didn't read it all my bad. You can still try transmitting somewhere OR try to see the voltage it dips to when you transmit. It might dip too low when trying to transmit at 25W, try low power. If that fixes your problem you need a new source of power

Can anyone confirm if this is the same unit as Midland DPR2500. It looks identical and the program appears to be the same. Having trouble knowing whether I am transmitting or not.
I've had one of these for a few months and finally got around to programming it. USE CHIRP! The factory software is terrible. I was able to paste the station information from my UV-5R image into the Chirp image for the AT778UV. Must easier to use. One gripe I have noticed so far -- the volume control wraps around. If you want to spin it quickly to silence the speaker, it wraps to maximum volume if you go past zero. Really?? This is just plain BAD programming of the firmware (I do this for a living. It's not that hard to avoid this problem). I will be installing it in my vehicle in the Spring. Looking forward to it. Jim N4FAF
