@@tibodeclercq2131 After what happened four years ago, when a group of tourists were allowed into the Capitol building by Capitol Police and some of them wanted Congress to hold off on certifying the election until it could be examined properly for fraud, in exercise of their First Amendment right to petition the government for a redress of grievances, Democrats insisted on a new law that required Kamala to certify the election in a purely ceremonial role rather than having any power over this process whatsoever. So no, she really couldn't have prevented it. If she refused, President pro tempore Chuck Grassley would've been standing there and doing it. But she could have tried something, could have given an impassioned speech at any point since November 5th to tell the American people how she intended to lead a civil war to stop the existential threat of Donald Trump. But it turns out she was just BSing the whole time and actually he's a pretty moderate Republican with the same values and policy positions of a Democrat from the 1990s.

Kamala is President of the Senate. She's addressed with the title of "President" in the Capitol during official proceedings. When she's not there, the President pro tempore is addressed as such. Currently Senator Chuck Grassley is "Mr. President".
