I have the Raspberry Pi 3B, and the built-in wifi is pretty useless. I wound up getting a long ethernet cable for it, and that massively improved the performance. So I don't think you're missing out on much with that original Pi. I used to have your same model of MacBook Pro, but after 2 years, Apple replaced it with a new one due to multiple repairs. The 2014 model is still going strong, but my work just got me a brand new one, and the only real difference is two more cores, a better battery, and a more vivid display. But even for compiling in Xcode, the extra cores don't make a huge difference.

What is missing here is the average power consumption of the IT infrastructure (laptop/cloud/USBHDD/Synology stuff/power plugs/routers/switches etc.) without TV, loudspeakers, lighting, etc. I'd be interested to know both average and peak consumption in Watts. Hint! I'd place the extinguisher under the table but not on ropes. You schould have been provided with a plastic wall mount together with the extinguisher.

Of all that you said, the one reaction I have is 8TBs drive is enough to hold _all_ your videos (vlogs)! Are you talking finished vlogs only or are you including the raw footage? Your 12TBs NAS is your backup but your MacBook Pro does not have access to whatever you are using to archive your photos and video. Which by the way, what software do you use to import and archive your photos and videos?
@jakewrightnet6 жыл бұрын
Yeah 8TB is enough for all of the raw footage I've ever recorded - all the vlog footage is 1080p and it comes off the camera quite compressed. I just manually import and organise everything with Finder - no fancy software. Similarly I just use the default Image Capture app to get anything off my iPhone. I backup to the NAS using Time Machine then I also backup to Backblaze.
