You're right about the way they interview and how intrusive it is. I turn down a lot of companies that think they are so amazing that they make it horrible to apply.

it's so demoralizing seeing a Cambridge graduate been rejected .. as a CS student myself at a high ranked (although no where close to Cambridge standard ) university myself I dread to think about jobs after uni now if cambridge grads struggle hahaha

I appreciate you and your vlogs so I will just speak honestly. What you eat is not good for you. You are still young so you will feel mostly fine, but the damage you are doing to yourself will start haunting you later (not too much later) in life. Start easy by cutting foods that come in a package (precooked pasta, cereals...). If you are not good at cooking, eat avocados, boil eggs, cut a bunch of vegetables and steam them. Get a rice cooker, buy canned beans, chickpeas, buy hommous. If you just love your milk and cereals in the morning, at least use some good quality granola (no excessive sugar or stuff like that). Go on youtube, check those "what I eat in a day" videos, and find those that focus more on health/wellbeing rather than athletic performance. You are smart enough to take your health into your own hands. P.S. by eating well and moving a bit, you will see your productivity and mental clarity go up a ton!

Hi Jake, I have a silly question. Why didn't you find a new job to spare prior to leaving the old one?
@jakewrightnet6 жыл бұрын
Mainly because I didn't have time. If I'd stayed at my old job for one more week, I'd have passed my probation period which would have meant the company paying my recruiter a fairly significant fee and me getting a three-month notice period. So leaving immediately made sense for me and for the company, but left me unemployed.

What kinds of things are you asked to do on a coding challenge? I ask because I saw what looked like node and npm briefly flashed.
@jakewrightnet6 жыл бұрын
I have a confession, that clip of the screen was of something unrelated because I don't want to get into trouble with monzo for revealing anything about their coding challenge. I did the Monzo test in Go, though, because that's what they use.

its strange that despite having a cambridge degree, you still get rejected. the computer science jobs and i guess jobs in general are getting really competitive nowadays.
Hah yes, I didn't want to actually reveal what any company's coding challenge was.

INTELLIGENCE TEST: Will you go to Heaven when you die? Have you lied, stolen, used God’s name in vain, or lusted which Jesus said was adultery, Mt.5:28? If so, God sees you as a liar, thief, blasphemer, and adulterer at heart. If you die in your sins, you will end up in a terrible place called Hell. But there’s good news. Though we broke God’s Law, Jesus paid the fine by dying on the cross: “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (Jn. 3:16). Then Jesus rose from the dead and was seen by hundreds (it’s no fairytale). He fulfilled all the prophecies of the promised Savior. Be intelligent: repent and trust Jesus today, and God will forgive you and grant you the gift of eternal life (Eph. 2:8,9).
