I'll have to simulate how much clay is like steel in this experiment.
@kenzow947911 ай бұрын
Do you have any stats on how thick the clay should be to kind of behave like a steel target?
@11Tits11 ай бұрын
Or shoot it throught a 1mm thick steel plate. (Insert a steel rod to the dart tho. (Also maybe make it pointed)
@kenzow947911 ай бұрын

Great experiment. The fins on APFSDS penetrators are usually designed to break off the penetrator when it impacts a hard surface, because otherwise it reduces penetration because of drag.

The other thing to consider is that Russian apfsds only had a hardened slug in the tip unlike western apfsds that went with a full length penetrator. These days both are full length.

yes, it just happened to be a decade after with the decade-after-better metallurgy. Exactly when new generation of Sovêt "cowbars" were as well having improvements.

Always enjoy your content Flasutie, thank you for your work. Those fins aren't often removable, and will also penetrate targets as the rod makes it through. Many simulations show the small petaling on armored surfaces/
@AmbrisRiktar28088 ай бұрын
The petalling it because of the fins breaking off as they hit. It is intentional

You should think abt making the fins weaker so they break off on impact instead of penetrating the clay as well and causing drag
