I had the exact same experience where before i was born again creation seemed bland and devoid of colour, i didnt enjoy the food i ate etc. I was very darkened, addicted and hopeless. When i was born again, the colours came back to nature, i enjoyed the food i ate and the magpies (birds) woke me up outside (the after being born again) with what sounded like a majestic, angelic chorus dedicated to the worship of God. Formerly they just annoyed the heck out of me. I also noticed a lightpost outside of my house emanating light in the shape of a cross. So, i share that same experience of having the creational glory revealed to me. I really appreciate what you do Melissa, and the team at Cultish. Thankyou for sharing this with us, it instructed and reminded me. God bless.

I’m a new Christian and I actually have a similar background of faith like Melissa but I was raised as a JW and I ended up going to progressive/new age Christianity in college. Now I’m an English teacher in Japan and found a church that teaches me the Bible. I’m amazed how God brought me on this journey to where I am now(I’m so thankful). Thank you all for this needed spiritual content.

That’s really encouraging to hear, I never went into new age/thought...well maybe just a touch with it because of reading “the secret” and trying to manifest things into my life, but when I left the jws I was essentially just in spiritual purgatory, I wasn’t really seeking God or anything like that, I was just existing, thankfully the Lord revealed Himself to me by exposing the secret sin in my life and for the first time, I could actually see how sinful and broken I was and also how much I needed God’s Grace to save me. I’m so happy to hear that a fellow ex Jw has found the truth of Christ and the Gospel, God Bless!

Jeremiah 14:14 Then the Lord said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart Jeremiah 23 21 I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. 22 But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings. Jeremiah 26:8 Now it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that the Lord had commanded him to speak unto all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people took him, saying, Thou shalt surely die Jeremiah 7 9 Therefore hearken not ye to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your enchanters, nor to your sorcerers, which speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon: 10 For they prophesy a lie unto you, to remove you far from your land; and that I should drive you out, and ye should perish Jeremiah 29 8 For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed. 9 For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the Lord.

17 They say still unto them that despise me, The Lord hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you. Jeremiah 23 10 For the land is full of adulterers; for because of swearing the land mourneth; the pleasant places of the wilderness are dried up, and their course is evil, and their force is not right. 11 For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, saith the Lord. 12 Wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery ways in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall therein: for I will bring evil upon them, even the year of their visitation, saith the Lord. 13 And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied in Baal, and caused my people Israel to err. 14 I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness; they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah. 15 Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is profaneness gone forth into all the land. 16 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the Lord. 17 They say still unto them that despise me, The Lord hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you. 18 For who hath stood in the counsel of the Lord, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it? 19 Behold, a whirlwind of the Lord is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked. 20 The anger of the Lord shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly. 21 I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.

I could relate and understand everything Melisaa mentioned about confusion/control with the independent baptist church(IFB)!! My family and I are dealing with that. We left an SBC affiliated church after being there 7 yrs. It was tough leaving. Went to an IFB church from there. It's taken us 3 yrs to realize some of the rules and teachings are unbiblical and cultish!!! On the surface, it seems just like personal preferences. But now we see it's deeper than just preferences!!!!!!! So, we are praying and waiting for the Lord to take us out of there. For over 2 yrs, my teenage daughter has been struggling with assurance of her salvation. And a bit more than a year for me.....because of the contradictions in the pastor's sermons. Please pray for us. thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love and hugs to all those with Apologia Studios from North Carolina!!

I feel like this has revived the urgency and importance the Lord has put on me to share my testimony so thank you for this cuz I have followed Melissa for awhile but never heard the full testimony. Even tho it's our own experience and is so personal and can't make someone a believer on its own it's our testimonies that spark unbelievers to seek..it's something different for everyone but when uve been there in the world it makes the testimony that much more relatable and powerful. so grateful the Lord finds ways to bring us back when we tend to stray

I love hearing that Melissa finally was embraced in that Apologetic circle, where she found that she was treated unbiasedly and with respect. I’m still finding left and right, the pushback on most of what I say, just because I’m female. Even in the small female Bible study group setting. I don’t know what this dynamic is really about, but it seems to plague the churches. After coming out of the false, and spending a few years studying true theology now, I’m still struggling to figure out where I fit in, in the Church, and church. So far I still just feel like the alien and black sheep. So hearing Melissa say that… gives me hope. Thank you.

I am a Jehovah Witness with doubts....I have no idea how I got here but I also have no idea where to go from here. This is all so overwhelming. I was raised LDS and then, went to new age. While I was searching for God, Jehovah's Witnesses found me. They made so much sense to me coming from my LDS background where I had no knowledge of the Bible. I've been a JW for 8 years but I think there are things that I've learned recently that I can't come back from and the idea of leaving all my friends is so difficult... my head is spinning. I just want to know the truth about who God really is and what the Bible really teaches.

Study the historic Christian creeds. Apostles Creed, Nicene Creed, and Athanasian Creed. Christianity has a history. The heresies of the LDS Church and the Jehovah’s Witnesses have been addressed literally hundreds of years ago in the Christian creeds and counsels. Most of those cults rely on dismissing the creeds as “Roman Catholic” and “pagan”. This is just nonsense. Study church history for yourself and read read read the Bible for yourself. You’ll find most of it is digestible to the average reader. At least the New Testament is. God will guide you and lead you better than we can here on KZbin. He’ll give increase in your genuine pursuance. Be willing to abandon Jehovah’s Witness and Watchtower if it doesn’t align with the scriptures. Be willing to go wherever Jesus leads, regardless of the cost or what you thought you knew as true. I came out of the New Age as well. It doesn’t all come into focus over night, it takes time and effort, prayer, reading scripture, etc. to grow in your understanding. But you need to abandon the Jehovah’s Witnesses Arian heresy and denial of Jesus Christ as God in flesh. But fully man, and fully God in the 1 person of Christ. God is Triune. Three persons share in the one singular being/essence/nature. All 3 persons are co-equal, co-eternal, co-existent from all eternity past. The Gospel is not the Jehovah’s Witness gospel. You are a sinner. You owe a debt you cannot pay. You’re spiritually dead in your sins. You need freedom from your bondage to sin and pardon from the eternal consequences of your sin. Forgiveness is only found by faith alone in the person and work of Jesus Christ alone. Not faith plus doing good deeds. Not faith plus baptism. Not faith plus the church. Not faith plus charity. Not faith plus church attendance. The Bible is clear that only your faith in the finished work and person of Jesus Christ washes away your sins. Once this happens, God regenerates you, frees your from your slavery to sin and empowers you to now live a life pleasing before Him. This brings with it new desires and a new desire to war with your sin. This process is called sanctification in the Bible. It is God now changing you and making you more like Christ. These good deeds don’t save you or play a part in your justification before God for your sin. Rather, the good deeds evidence that the faith that you have is a true, saving faith and not a dead faith like the devil and demons have. So turn to the true Christ. The 2nd person of the Godhead. He is fully God and fully man. He is able to save to the uttermost all those who draw near to Him by faith. Trust in His atoning and perfect sacrifice for the cleansing of your sin. Trust that He will, as the Bible says, “lead you into all truth.” He will. But you need to know the true Christ first. Not the false Christ of the Jehovah’s Witness or Mormon Jesus.

I truly empathise with you my friend. Seek the truth, that is.. the person of Jesus Christ and how he is revealed in the gospel. What is the gospel? How do i have a right standing with God. Focus upon the central thing...according to the scriptures, who is Jesus and what has he done in the gospel? Romans 4 What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, discovered in this matter? 2 If, in fact, Abraham was justified by works, he had something to boast about-but not before God. 3 What does Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” 4 Now to the one who works, wages are not credited as a gift but as an obligation. 5 However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness. 6 David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the one to whom God credits righteousness apart from works: 7 “Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord will never count against them.”

Just a small thing to note, "Think and Grow Rich" was by Napoleon Hill. (Which is huge circulating book in entrepreneur culture) I'm not sure if Melissa mumbled it , or forgot. It sounded like " Wattle" lol. This was said at 48 mins in the interview. That book impacted me and had a huge effect, that and his other book "Outwitting the Devil" by Napoleon Hill. It actually took Melissa's ministry on KZbin (and Mike Wigner) to snap me out of it and caused me to be convicted by the Holy Spirit, and I believe that because when I went to a "Leadership Development Seminar" at which 95% of what was being taught was New Age (New Thought) and claimed it to be Christian teaching, [also I've been to these several times by this point and always felt excited and awesome] I didn't feel excited, or motivated, or inspired; I couldn't hardly sleep the whole weekend I went because what I became to believe was plain unbiblical and wrong. (Oddly enough I didn't like her channel at first because I believed in the Law of Attraction, but I couldn't logically counter what she was revealing on her channel, so I kept watching) Now I've been growing closer to Jesus and rejoicing in his truth. Thank you Melissa for your Ministry!

Hey. It can absolutely become cult-y. I would just say this: if Christ can redeem and cleanse a sinner like me and make me a new creation, can he not cleanse and redeem a simple heirloom or protect me from the mere mention of a monster or ghost? Now, if it's something that is actually occult like a book on magic or stuff meant to be used as part of a ritual, it would probably be best to get rid of it. But any mere object, if you're worried, just pray and ask God to cast out anything evil attached to it.

16:17 it's not called "New Age" because it's a "new" movement or teaching or something, she doesn't even know anything about it, it's called "new age" because this doctrine (started by Helena Blavatsky) prophesies the "coming of a new age" in the future. Hence the name "new age" lol

@Lilacs4 3 жыл бұрын
Being born again doesn't equate to church confirmation, it's about Christ transforming you from the inside out and acts of obedience like baptism are just a public declaration of what should have already taken place on the soul level. For what it's worth I'd encourage you to continue talking to your relative, give truth in love, and point them to the gospel. Jesus leaves zero room for any pagan practices if one is to have a true relationship with him. 🙏🏻 God bless 💖

Your comment reminds me of some eye-roll inducing experiences in the past lol. Reformers I've come across consistently gave me the impression of being extremist - all or nothing, ultimatum type - and that ego complex is such a huge turnoff and so unbiblical. Not saying you are that way, just that your comment reminded me of many unpleasant conversations with over zealous, disrespectful and cocky 20-something y/o reformed dudes. Blegh.

Well the remark of being new age is a tricky statement you claim you were, and now use against others beliefs that is called states we all go through, the reading of the Bible is thought to be history which I call blinding in classic theology, thinking Jesus is outside man is wrong understanding about what Actually man was before creation, God does everything man experienced good and evil by what's established with man as the word I AM being the name used by God. Plus every man is convinced by emotion's now in what you grasp being truth. Your doing and repeating first Adams belief in being saved, wake is a more realistic meaning. Phil 2:5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: Or repeat thinking your truth by the mind you judge against other for it being untrue by your thoughts.Ecclesiastes 3:15: “That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already has been; and God seeks what has been driven away.” The “natural man” cannot grasp that, for to him reality is based only on the evidence of the senses. The man of reason could justify the verse’s end, saying if it has any meaning then the writer must mean recurrence. The sun comes every day and the moon completes its cycle and the seasons come and go. If we took a picture of the universe today, the scientists can compute how long it will take to return to this point in the picture. So the intellectual man could justify the verse; but that is not what is meant, for it is addressed not to the man of reason or the man of sense, but to the man of Imagination. What is it all about? “That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already has been, and God seeks what has been driven away.” Imagination is the oldest system used since creation by I AM which includes man.

love you both but I got to say Jeremiah lost me when he says he got "good vibes" from a former New ager..that's like a new-age term that we have adopted.. And she lost me when she said she prefers empathy over sympathy. 😬 God bless you both
@TGuard00014
@TGuard00014 2 жыл бұрын
Why do you think that sympathy is preferable to empathy? In my experience sympathy is often times accompanied by a judgement, ie I feel so bad for that drug addict for being addicted, but know I would never make that choice. This often results in feeling pity for people, no one wants to be pitied by others. Alternatively empathy tends to produce a “but for the grace of God there goes I” approach. A couple bad decisions and I could be the one with the needle in my arm, and how would I want to be treated if that were the case? Also empathy tends to result in more urgency. While sympathy tends to result in an attitude of you poor thing, empathy tends to result in an attitude of this has to change. How do you define empathy?
