Personally, I never felt that Sasuke's relationship to Naruto in Shippuden was one of a best friend like Shikadai it's implied to be for Boruto. If you trace back to Naruto and Naruto Shippuden their relationship is more reminiscent of a rivalry strengthen with a mutual care and understandment of each other that triggers them to become better (though this is completely different for each other). Hence, I would argue, it's more like a brotherly relationship; which is different in key aspects than a friendship (it doesn't come even close but the closest realtionship Boruto would have similar to this kind of bond is with Kawaki). You don't chose your brothers but you can also can help to feel a strong bond and connection with each other that would push you to protect them for better or worse. That is Naruto and Sasuke's relationship. Boruto's relationship with Mitsuki is similar to Naruto and Sakura's bond in Shippuden. They believe in each other and their strengths better than anyone and although they sometimes fail to understand in a rooted deep level what the other is going through, they can count with each other. As for Shikadai and Boruto they share a best friend relationship, just like their fathers. I won't argue why Shikamaru and Naruto are best friends (there are already several youtubers out there that explain this point), but their bond although out the series (including Naruto) shows this. So yeah, I disagree, but I understand what you are pointing at.
