I live in Northeast Georgia about an hour's drive from that part of the AT in the Blood Mountain area which I've been hiking since the mid-80s. The large rock next to the Blood Mountain shelter is known as Picnic Rock. Day hikers come up from Neel Gap during warm weather and eat their lunch while enjoying the view atop the rock, hence the name. The boulder at Flat Rock Gap stacked on top of a larger boulder is called Balancing Rock, an iconic feature of nature photographed who knows how many times. There is no road at Flat Rock Gap.

Amazing weather you are having! You asked in your last video about music for the “non speaking bits”, I think you have it just right. The river crossing didn’t need any in your last video as you have the sound of the river, but at the start of this one entering Blood Mountain the music was perfect. 👍 You’re doing a great job!! And 30min/mile sounds ideal, that’s my hiking pace and you have 2000+ miles to perfect it ❤️

Well I've looked up on you tube history of blood mountain and how did blood mountain get it's name but the only information I got was first in flight , the races and hiking , someone warning about it being the worst place to hike I'll keep on searching
