It's truly a sad situation. Lisa literally went through a months or years long process in which she went insane and either no one noticed or no one cared until her life blew up and was completely destroyed. I'm no professional but even I know that delusions are rarely the only symptoms of the various psychological disorders that she could be afflicted with. Imagine how different the story would be if someone had noticed and she was able to get treatment before it got to this point. I guess this stuff happens when the society you live in doesn't really give a damn about, or have any awareness of, mental health.

@@charles0322mrsdani one of the main reasons that mental health it's not taken as seriously as physical health is due to the fact that it is not nearly as profitable. Because it's not profitable family and friends are given extremely limited options when they want to help someone. One of the only options to "force" help means involving the police and we all know how often that ends in tragedy. Otherwise you have to involve the courts and have somebody declared incompetent to gain stewardship over them and even if it does work after expending all the resources required to succeed resentment might grow to the point where the intervention is completely counterproductive. I'm not a professional as I stayed at so I don't know the solution to this problem however even I can see what we have now just simply isn't sufficient.

She won’t accept that she also needs to stay in assisted living for the rest of her life (and she only turned 50 a few months ago). So knowing someone needs mental health help is only part of the battle, it also comes down to whether the person WANTS the help!

The symptoms might have been too subtle to notice until very recently. Not everyone is a trained psychologist, and not every disorder is easily identifiable. The flake at work might not show any other symptoms at work besides their occasional flakiness, and the same person shows different symptoms at home, or with friends. Point is it's not as simple as "the society you live in doesn't really give a damn about, or have any awareness of, mental health."
