The reason it didn't show you the correct McDonalds was because you were scrolled into a different area. It was showing you the McDonalds nearest where your cursor was on the map. A cool feature if you are on a drive and don't care about the nearest one, but rather the nearest ahead of you, or at the next exit etc.

I saw the name and thought "I wonder if this is going to be subtitled" then realized it was Chris. I don't know if the name is clear enough. "German Driver" as in someone who is German, or "German Driver" as in the channel is in German? This name was explained in a previous video but I don't think it's clear enough. I think your previous name was better.

Nice overview, and a more in depth review might be well received. I don't know about Apple, but on much a simular level Android Auto works like Google Home, in that you can ask a variety of questions a get Internet based responses .. few exceptions I don't understand (eg What's today's news). However, apps like NPR One correct. The current version of Android Auto allows you to use Android Auto without the need of your car's support. Yes, this plugging and unplugging is a pain and at least on older Android phones can cause a connection failure between car and phone; 2GB RAM phones you need to stop apps before the connection.

I have a set-up very much like your Pro-clip. In fact I used to use Pro-clip on a previous phone. I use MINI Connected a ton, and need a USB connection for it. So, I (one-handed) slide my iPhone into its dock as a matter of routine, pretty much with every ingress/egress. I prefer it this way. If you could close the flap on your iPhone, you'd surely forget it every other time. Out of sight, out of mind. Happened to me anyway. It's why I eschew the official BMW dock. My next MINI will have iDrive 5.0+, and will rely exclusively on Bluetooth, even for Apple CarPlay, and have a wireless charging pad. So, here's hoping iPhone 8 supports wireless charging (plus they'd better not create some proprietary, non-QI charging scheme!).

I've had really good luck with Apple Maps/CarPlay recently. Seems like they have made some improvements. Other than some interface differences, it works pretty much the same as Google Maps. Waze would be nice though.

How can I close opened app’s through the Apple Carplay on the 8” display ? Imagine I open Spotify, Whatsapp, Maps, etc, and I want to just close Spotify, for instance, without having to run it in multi tasking ?

One thing I got to say is that during the test drive android auto worked just fine. Now that I own the car the program is bugged. Should of tried my phone instead of the salesman's. Mirror link also does not work at all

How would you rate the sound quality? I want to buy one and am curious what the sound quality is like In these cars. Also, would it be worth my time to buy some aftermarket speakers to replace the stock ones, or not? (I love super crisp treble, rich, deep bass, etc...not sure if audiophile is the right term, but I suppose it could be) Keep making the videos, they're super helpful!

Benjamin Winks hey I just got a 17 gti se which includes the fender premium audio and subwoofer. The sound system is fantastic and I think it's one of the best from factory. I will NOT be going aftermarket for audio

Benjamin Winks I recently bought a GLI for my son. It has he Fender audio system. I test drove various GTIs and a Golf R. In the GLI they cut out the subwoofer for 2017 in an effort to lower the price. The tweeters and door speakers are the same as the Fender system as is the 400 watt amplifier under the seat. It sounds good. On some music you miss the sub. My truck is a 2016 Ram 1500 with optional Alpine system with factory subwoofer plus 9 additional speakers. Sounded like crap. I replaced everything but the sub with decent JBLs including the 2 tweeters in the roof. It now sounds really good. I now hear additional layers of music that I had forgotten existed. Because of family I do most of my music listening in the truck. Well worth the cost of upgrading. Would have been much more difficult if I hadn't already had the sub. My point is with the VW GTI you should try to get either the SE or Autobahn to get the Fender system. The base sound is not bad in the S and Sport but you're probably going to want to replace the speakers. But you still will be bass challenged. To add a subwoofer requires pulling and reprogramming the head unit with a special tool that dealers should have. Much easier to start with the Fender system. You may love it as is but if not you can likely replace the speakers and stick with the factory sub. Even if you upgrade the sub the wiring is there already and no programming should needed. Be aware that if you replace the factory tweeters on the Fender system that they are bonded to the grills so you need to use a Dremel tool or similar to cut them loose being careful not to damage the grills. Getting out of my truck directly into a Golf R I though the Fender sounded a bit harsh and muddy. After a few minutes of driving I thought it sounded better. If I buy a Golf R or GTI I will likely replace the tweeters on day one and see where it goes from there.

Yup. Plus you can adjust the volume to both Spotify and Maps individually which is great. They work well together

Fry1022 I believe Android Auto doesn't have a messages app but you are able to send messages and receive them while using it.
