I have an M1 MB Pro Max. Still nothing compelling with M4 version. I’m not even optimistic that the M5 will be remotely compelling. Mac computer development has returned to what amounts to fine tuning of the M1 line. The only evolution I might be interested in is Thunderbolt 5. Apple needs to innovate. They haven’t really innovated disruptively since the original M1 MB. Even the MB Pro and Pro Max were just evolutions of the M1 MB.

Planning on going for a M1 Max MPB to a fully spec'd up M4 Max MBP this year for photo and video editing. The M1 Max I have is actually still doing really well, but I have moved a lot heavier from just photo editing into more video editing, and this is the first successor to the M1 that I feel like will give the the performance boost I've been looking for. I was actually really wanting to wait for the Mac Studio and an M4 Ultra, but honestly I think the M4 Max will do everything I need it to do. The only other thing I'd kill for is a studio display with 2 Thunderbolt ports on each so I can finally daisy chain them. Gonna get my wife a M4 MB Air up from her M1 MB Air since she's starting grad school in December. I think it will be a nice upgrade for her.

m3 max has Up to 16-core CPU Up to 40-core GPU Up to 128GB unified memory, so why get same on Mac 4? you need more than 40 gpu and 16 cpu, otherwise why bother getting m4? get m3 which is a lot cheaper

If the times for rendering on Topaz PHOTO AI are cut in half from my current M1Pro, I would consider it. Other wise, I have never(in 40 years of Apple) upgraded until my current machine is literally 1/2 the speed of the upgrade. $3500 for an incremental upgrade is not worth it to me.

Apple prices need either a serious spec bump and/or a price drop as new intel/amd/arm is gunning now for apple buyers as Ive jumped ship for now lastgen 16" AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS w/ Radeon 780M Lenovo with a BIG battery, OLED 32gb, 1tb for AUD$1300! Battery life is amazing, its got Ai NOW and its awesome... My M2 is being gifted to family as the appleTax is real and I can still dual boot and make it a Hackintosh too or just VM it. Buying a MAC isnt a guaranteed must have UPGRADE now Apple!
