Apple iPhone 4S Review Part 2

Aaron goes in-depth with the Apple iPhone 4S, the evolutionary upgrade from the iPhone 4 that debuted sixteen months ago. While the design is virtually identical to its predecessor, there are quite a few improvements in the 4S such as a dual-core Apple A5 (800 MHz) processor, 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video recording, Siri for voice services, global roaming capabilities thanks to a SIM card slot in all models, and Apple's iOS 5 out of the box. It retains the same 3.5-inch Retina display and metal/glass aesthetic. It's available in 16, 32, and 64 GB flavors at AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon.
It's a nice upgrade and offers some nice features, but the wireless market has changed dramatically over the past sixteen months, and Android is closing the gap with several high-end models. Are the upgrades in the 4S enough to lure new customers and keep existing iOS users put? We'll figure it out. Part 2 of 2.

Sprint doesnt suck. Just because its having some trouble with iPhones doesnt mean you shouls go to Verizin or AT&T! Verizon and AT&T both had problems when they first introduced the iPhone onto their service and now they work fine. Sprint just needs to work out the kinks. Personally i think Sprint shouldve waited til tje nexr iPhone to make sure their 3G was stable...

Sprint it's actually pretty good in some areas with the iPhone 4S. Sometimes it's even faster than AT&T and Verizon and obviously it depends on the network signal. In this area Sprint is decent and AT&T is so so, which is not that good.

sprint is slower than my grandfather on the toilet. Given that i am still wating for the iPhone 4S to come for T-Mobile, i cant believe Apple would rather put it on Sprint then on a HSPA+ capable T-Mobile network.

Sprints network is the worst one to choose if wanting an iPhone. AT&T is the best choice. What good is unlimited data with severely limited data speed?

At the end you made it sound like only Android phones have Gmail support. I have my email, contacts, and calendar synced with my iPhone 4s.

@zoics1 Android is less consistant, that's because of some customizations, iOS will be as consistant because of some customizations. Apple wants to prevent that from happening. I have a jailbroken iPod and I see a difference in performance, but it's what you want: Customizations and more chances of crashes, viruses etc. Or no customizations and less chances of crashes, viruses etc.

Well if phone has a letter like x or s, it usually means that it is just better or newer version of the previous phone. iphone 4 - iphone 4s

I think the battery issue is a software problem just like iOS 4.3. When I updated my 3GS to iOS 5 the battery would drain even when asleep. I have the same problem with my new 4S. I got the Sprint iPhone. It is slower than AT&T but it's not unusable and I have a better signal. Also, I'm only paying $100 a month for me and my wife's 4S's instead of $175. Is AT&T worth $75 more per month? No. Plus I have unlimited EVERYTHING and 1500 minutes. Enjoy your 2 gigs of data at AT&T and Verizon.

@Soliturna Just FYI. Service is different in different areas. I have four to five bars of 3G in every area I've been. No reason to get hostile, but I've been bitten by AT&T and Verizon before. They seem to be following each other off a cliff in terms of overpricing. So far, I'm pleased with Sprint. 85% of time I'm on Wifi (i.e. Home, McDonalds, Work, etc.) anyway. Your opinion is noted but sadly unneeded.

@FutureGD sure, but batterylife would suffer, and added thickness/weight would be there too probably. I would love to get a bigger screen too, but i can see why they haven't yet. Also i think it's all about keeping the same aspect ratio and resolution to get iOS and all apps work as they should, it's easier to program for one size/resolution, otherwise the older iphones would die out quickly i think, that wouldn't be all good for business. Personally i believe an ipad would be awesome for you!

@micheskillz what you man?, the iphone is like 25-40 dead area all around. that means the screen is only taking up about 60-75% of the phones total area. they could easily fit a 4,3 inch screen. Bigger screen means i dont have to watch the tv or use my pc. And no, pads are too big. Now samsung galaxy s2 and the note and the new htc phones have awsome screen size!

Why wouldn't it? Consistency only makes sense, especially when you're releasing products. Why does it matter so much in the first place? It's literally just a naming convention; a naming convention that literally no one cares about in their daily use of the product.

It still bothers me that it's not a 4g phone. even if it's not LTE it should have at least supported HSPA+. they'll probably release a 4G one in a couple of months like the 1st gen iPhone and the 2nd gen iPhone 3G. I think they do that to make more money.

I have used to have the iphone 4 and decided to switch to an android device (b/c i never had one before) and after using both for a while, I am switching back to apple iphone 4s. I guess you could say that it is personal preference, but I like apple products better. (1) I believe iOS is more user friendly. (2) The apps are better for the iphone. (3) Many people i know have it so facet-timing is great.

sprints 3G speeds are terrible. to everyone who would like to get an iPhone 4S get it with Verizon or ATT ( preferably Verizon ) or buy it with sprint before Jan. becuase sprint is ending unlimited data in january.
