Is it not potentially damaging for the phone to stand on the plug in that way? I understand that as long as the phone was stable and upright it should be ok, but it looks like the phone is leaning back against the plug - seems like it could damage the socket over time.

Late reply I did find those docks used for the se and some iphone 14s sometimes have connection problems even the cable connecting to the dock can have issues as well, I do have a sliver lighting dock and its stil working fine using it for my apple pencil I do have a white one but I accidently dropped that and that one dosent really work with audio anymore

I just bought one of these the other day for my iPhone 5S with the Apple Leather Case and it fits almost perfectly and it looks great too. They should've done this way sooner, because now I won't have to buy a new dock when I upgrade.

these docks are underrated. theyre a good headphone charge solution if you still use wired headphones. theyre also fairly cheap NIB on ebay

In my opinion, docks like this one in which you have to provide your own cable, is a waste of money. If I had a choice between buying a spare cable, or buying a dock that comes with a cable, well then I'll go with the dock. But to spend money on a dock that you have to provide your own cable..... I could just plug the cable directly into the phone. It seems pretty pointless to me.

Ananda Daffa How many people do you know with just one cable? I need at least 4. One attached to my computer at the desk, one for the first floor charging station, one for the second floor charging station, and one to take with me when I leave the house.

would have preferred some back support as well. A magnetically adjustable back support would make it better so you could use it for iPads as well as iPhones. All that leverage on the little lightning connecter makes me nervous.

My question for something like this is actually something I need to know. I have a 6 Plus and I have been using my iPads charger for it since it charges a lot faster with it. I was wondering that the dock will not stop it at 5W but still at the 12W that charges the 6 plus faster?

***** To be honest, it's not that weird that if the phone is charging and you get a message, you want to reply to it. I think that if you do that with this dock, certainly if you'd be tapping the screen at the top, it will either fall over or the lightning connector will break pretty easily. Why don't they have some sort of support at the back? Probably because it's Apple and clean looks go above functionality.

you do not need to scrape the edge all you have to do is if you did not know the lightning conecter is in the same place as the home button or in the middle.

Samsung multimedia dock has 3 usb ports, 1 hdmi port and audio out. You can charge your phone, connect it to your external display and control it with keyboard and mouse. Just like a pc! And this dock is since Note 2 available. Apple should offer for this price more than just a charging stand.

I bought the lightning dock from Belkin when the iPhone 5 came out. I am sticking with it, it is still going strong. I use it with my iPhone 6+ and my iPad mini 2nd gen

I have a fear that if the phone tilts the port can get crooked, they should have put 2 small support sticks and/or a large backrest to prevent damage to the connector.

Honestly the 30-pin docks were a little more premium since they were weighted enough to not have to be pressed down when removing the phone. This dock requires being pushed down while the phone is lifted.

Typical Apple pricing but I do like this dock. I don't use an iPhone even though I have a 5s laying around my daily-driver isn't that, this is a pretty solid charging dock though it's a little late to the party. Could have asked for a lower price but nope. Anyway great video Mike! :)

that looks really nice, I have a sony stereo with a 30 pin dock and a lighting to 30 pin adapter which seems to work if i want to dock the phone. One advantage I have, that I didn't see here is any sort of remote for the music player. The remote for the sony stereo is able to control the iPhone as an iPod when plugged into the dock. I still think the dock from apple looks nice though and certainly has a smaller foot print then the stereo I have.

To people complaining about the price, yes, Apple probably charges a bit more, but I bet the Apple branded one will last longer than cheap fakes. They are cheap for reason. Also, a thing most people saying "I can get the same for 2$", you forgot that the Aplle dock has the 3,5mm audio jack. This means the dock has to have integrated circuit to controll it, and a digital to analogue converter (DAC) etc. Its is still pretty expensive, I agree, but just something most commenters dont seem to notice..

This dock has almost the same design as the dock for my old 2013 Moto X. Except that dock also came with a back for the phone to lean on for additional stability and naturally included a micro USB cable. Sigh... Apple. They'd sell a bottle of water to a person dying of thirst for $39. But hey, look how cool the bottle looks. Oooo...ahhhh...
