I just opened an ipod mini i was given, never opened, and what a surprise to see that battery connector has fallen apart from pcb (a big hit maybe?). Luckily all traces seem to be ok. Is it a difficult fix? Those three pins soldered to the board seem very close to the round capacitor. Any tip?

Hey, just stumbled across your videos, good stuff man. I'm not sure why, as an American, all my recommended videos are from Aussies now, but I'm good with it. I just wanted to mention something about storage capacities for the minis. I have 256GB in my 1st gen, and 512GB in my second gen. Using Rockbox on both and they run very smoothly. I used iFlash adapters though since the dual micro adapters just wouldn't recognize in the iPod. I read conflicting information prior to modding them, and a lot of folks seemed to think that 128GB was the upper tolerable limit for these. Now, I don't know what the upper limit for these is storage-wise, but I'm looking to add a 1TB card to my next one to find out.

Thank you for this helpful tutorial! This process worked and I was able to replace the battery in my 2004 1st gen ipod mini. I was scared to replace the battery initially but it wasn't a bad experience!

Quick question, how thick is the double sided tape you use for reassembling the plastic bits?

When I pushed the click wheel back to place, it's so stiff that I peeled off a slice of plastic off the rail. Am I doing sth wrong? thanks

I noticed you insert a piece of packing foam for stuffing. Do any of the mini or classic iPods have a problem with overheating that would limit the type of foam you insert for filling? And I've seen DankPods insert gaffer tape. Does it matter if you use something like gaffer tape in a classic or mini?

Hello, for the CF cards and CF to SD card adaptors you shouldn't really run into any issues with heat as they run pretty cool. The mSATA drives on classic 5, 6 and 7th gens can sometimes run a little hotter although even then it usually isn't enough to cause any issues, most are rated to run up to 70 degrees c.
