I made the switch to the trackpad a while back and have come to like it more. I did have some RSI at the beginning, but it got better with time. I did use the MX Master series for along time and mapped buttons to my most used keyboard shortcuts, but I think I do just as well with the trackpad now.

I currently own a Magic Trackpad and MX Master 3S and I absolutely love the trackpad. I actually prefer the Magic Trackpad over any other pointing device. It is comfortable for me and the gestures is unmatched. Zooming, rotating, swiping are so much better on the Magic Trackpad. The Magic Mouse brings some of the Magic Trackpad's functionality to the mouse but it lacks zooming, and that is one thing that bothers me. The trackpad is also more intuitive and clean. I don't really like to use the MX Master anymore but I still keep it because it is a good mouse. If you own an MX Master, download Mac Mouse Fix to fix the jaggy scrolling. You would get Magic Mouse level smoothness.

Other than tool specific features you mentioned for Mouse vs Trackpad. I used a track pad for solve RSI for my finger. The Track pad is great so you don't use your index finger to click and you can also switch it to the 'other side' i.e. left of your keyboard. Using your left hand is a bit more easier on a trackpad vs a mouse.

After using the trackpad as the primary method of using the cursor on MacOS ever since I switched to Mac years ago, I've grown to prefer using the trackpad and whenever I go back to using a mouse on my computer, it just feels weird for me

I’ve had my Trackpad for at least a few years now and you’ll never drag me away from it. However, I may get one with the type C connector and that would be my complete transition from lightning.

Same experience when I use trackpad; my forearms are hurting after using it for a while. Using both makes sense, but I prefer the mouse.

I use the trackpad on the left of the keyboard and the mouse on the right. Best of both worlds.

I do the same! Before I watched many videos that argued between one OR the other. I finally just got the trackpad and connected my Mouse realizing they work AMAZING together

I've disliked the Magic Mouse since I first wholesale migrated to Apple. Great ergonomics but I just never found comfort. Plus I switch between MacBook and iPad with Magic Keyboard. Recently added the Magic Trackpad and regret not doing it sooner. I especially like that the trackpad stays in place on what is a fairly cluttered desktop. The only improvement I can see is being able to use the Apple Pencil on the TrackPad like a Wacom Tablet. That would be nirvana.

I have a similar issue and it’s why I can’t use a mouse. It’s physically pressing the trackpad. Especially with click+hold+drag. It uses the muscles you’re talking about. At least for me. Try going to the trackpad settings and turning on all the tap to settings. Tap to click, tap to right click and the gesture to tap+hold+drag without having to physically depress the trackpad. I think it requires slightly more physical effort to “click” the trackpad than it does with a mouse. I can’t use a mouse because absolutely no mouse makers have click+hold+drag for Mac OS. Not even the accessibility companies! Drives me batty, especially since it’s really simple. But even messaging them the response I get is why would you want that, which clearly goes against their company vision of making accessible products. I don’t know why apple doesn’t introduce tap to click in Magic Mouse. I’d rather a mouse because the ability to precisely move the cursor is better with a mouse. Seriously though when I turned on the tap rather than click settings especially for click+hold+drag, my arm pain went away and my fingers don’t get numb anymore.
