Why buy a 999$ smartphone, that when it's broke, isn't repairable, or it costs you a hand and a leg.. After 1 year, when there is a new "flagship model" for sale, and you switch anyway. In the end, your data on such a device is not more protected than on any other smartphone with most basic protection and security options. A smartphone of around 140$, you buy it, you will use it for several years, you don't care about the guarantee, but let it be repaired at the best and cheapest repairman in the neighbourhood. When it gets stolen, it's not about the expensive smartphone, rather the data you lost, the real, important data: your contacts, photo's and stuff). Just register the device, so you can block it and make it unusefull for the next buyer (who buys it from the person that actually stole your smartphone.

I was in phone sales for a pre-paid carrier for over a year and it's so much better for the customer. First of all, the company I worked for based their commissions on accessories and data plans--not on the phones. This meant I was incentivized to find the right phone for the customer. I tend to be a bit more detail oriented and have been a lifetime gamer so specs meant a lot to me. I was constantly testing different phones and comparing them. I had so many customers come in for that new "premium" phone, but when I dig into why they wanted that phone, I find out that they didn't really know most of the time. They just thought that it being new and expensive meant it would be good. There were several times where I could show a customer a few comparable phones (or sometimes even superior) for substantially less money and they would see how affordable/nice it is, so they would sometimes buy an extra as a gift for someone. Some of them got extra accessories, which is cool for me in a small way, but more often they were way more hyped about their experience in store and the phone they ended up getting. One example that really springs to mind is someone who has been an Apple user for a long time. She came in looking for an iphone 7 because she was used to the brand but couldn't afford the new 11. I introduced her to the Moto G Stylus (my current phone, actually), showed her the side-by-side comparison of their specs, demo'd the performance and camera quality differences in real time, showed off some of the other cool Moto features (like the flashlight that Louis was smiling about in this vid), and by the end of it she was ready to give Moto/Android a chance. She saved $150 on her total purchase too. I saw her again two weeks later when she brought her friends in to get their own new phones--the same model she got. As a consumer, it really pays to find the guy who cares about what he does and isn't *just* the salesman. You're also significantly better off avoiding the contract carriers for a huge number of reasons, but this being one of the bigger ones. I made like $10 less on my commission for her buying the Moto instead of the Apple, but when her friends came in to get theirs, I made that back multifold and they were all thrilled with their new devices. Good customer service and sincere interest in their needs is good for everyone--including the business.

I payed $150 and saved about $500 not getting the Samsung i almost got and my so happy with my Motorola. I do play some games like League of Legends, but the Motorola handles it just fine so even for gaming this is a perfectly good phone. Camera is kinda bad on this one too, but I don't take a lot of pictures so don't care. For anyone looking to save, except people that want a great camera, I really recommend looking at some Motorola phones. I actually prefer using this over my more expensive Samsung (my old Samsung is still more expensive than this!).

long time android user. My favorite phones have been the LG G2, Moto G, Moto Z2, and Moto Z3. I bought the 2020 iPhone SE and I have come to love many things about iOS but its not perfect. My main issue with android has been the size of the phones and issues with the camera (at some point, all my android phones had issues with the camera) To me, the iphone se size is perfect. I still have a Verizon galaxy S7 but its super slow and when i play pokemon go it gets super hot, probably from age but the worst about that phone is samsung apps, the galaxy app store keeps showing me ads in the notification screen. Before buying the iphone se i was planning on buying the new Pixel 4a but it was sold out. If I sell the SE, I am probably buying an iphone 12 mini. I can use all the google apps with the iphone so I havent changed the way I use my phone at all. My Moto Z3 its still in use but only for Pokemon go. @densetsu42864 жыл бұрын
Or just stick with samsng and download good lock as well as edge touch. Edge touch is a function of good lock. Good lock is the overall app. Once both are installed you can assign a dead zon as well as a palm rejection zone. This way you will not be causing yourself grief with holding the phone how you want. It is a must have app for curve display users. This allows you to have the look but not the hassle. And there are no ads nor does it cost anything for these two apps. And its a one and done. Its always active until you tell it not to be anymore. Power downs, restarts, security updates, major up/minor OS updates, good lock updates, edge touch updates. It doesn't matter the settings will remain regardless until you either uninstall it (don't know why you would) or turn it off or reset the areas. Honestly i don't know why these apps aren't more well known at least for samsung users anyways. I say that cause the apps are only on samsung's store and not play store.

@@mjc0961 yeah that's why I still haven't upgraded my phone, personally the thing that really interest me about "flagship" is the speed and camera, they honest to god just detroy my phone when it comes to speed and quality of the camera, but on the other hand... do they really? The reason I'm still using my CAT S41 is simply because I haven't found a phone that can actually take that much abuse, still function in the freezing condition of Northern Norway, and can still be used to capture pictures, turn on the light, music with thick gloves and mittens. on top of physical buttons, it's the raw battery capacity. not having to recharge your phone constantly is really something I treasure.

The worst part of tech reviewers is how they obsess over very niche features and make it sound like the end of the world. At this point tech reviewers are like critics. The phones are so similar they have to obsess on small details just to survive. It's best just to watch them for entertainment.
@NM-ev7pu4 жыл бұрын
@@mjc0961 In all honesty those phones take really nice photos, and unless you wanna print it, it really doesn't matter. Most people view pictures on IG, FB, Whatsapp etc, and people won't be able to tell the difference if your photo is shot on an iPhone 12 Pro Max or a 350 bucks Pixel 4a. Yes, there may be some specific scenarios where one is superior, but for the most part they look pretty much identical unless you zoom in and compare side by side (which no one does on a phone anyway).

Mate this was by far a way more useful review than any of the other ones you mentioned. I had g5 g6. g7 power I got a G8 power now . Next I will get the Moto edge S in 6 months time .not the edge the new 2021 edge S. Around £ 275 I would never spend 1000 quid on a phone . Not just for a better camera as that's what your paying for and a oled screen .

Adding on to the non existent bezels, I just wished we had normal sized phones again. All of these modern phones are getting ridiculously large to handle with my small hands.

im 6'4" over here so my main problem is how THIN the phones have been getting.... like even back in 2013 it was just too thin for me to comfortably hold as a middle schooler .... i like phones that feel compact with 3 dimensions and a long battery life... thinner phones means you have to charge them more often

You are a great reviewer and I really appreciate the way that you search for value with honesty and the way that you ridicule people's drive to take pride in the newest and most expensive without considering what will actually serve them well.

You remind me of my late Grandfather with this review. That's a big compliment. He was a civil engineer, I can just picture him assessing all the impracticalities of curved screens and batteries failing in cold New York weather. Edit: hypothetically I could also picture myself fidgeting around for the flashlight on a high tech phone and him saying "can you do this??" shaking his phone to turn the light on.

I was on Pike's Peak a few years ago, and my iphone just shut off completely. I put it in my pocket, entered the gift shop, and I was able to turn it on after 10 minutes by warming it up. The flagship phones are built in a way where they feel so delicate, but the midtiers tend to be more durable and more affordable.

I'd prefer more reviewers to make product reviews in the way you do. Currently most of them are like kids enjoying a new toy + reading the ad and the tech specs of the thing.
@GeoHop164.54 жыл бұрын
I agree - although I suspect these kind of things take time to work out and evaluate, if they were to do this kind of review of a new device it'd be irrelevant by the time the video gets released. It's definitely a shame - we need more Rossmann reviews
@psycho33244 жыл бұрын
@A Google User if any of the popular reviewers cared about "reviewing" the product they would point out flaws that you learn by actually using the damn thing. Not the skin deep 1 week stuff.
