I haven't gotten much out of any upgrades since about 2019 when I got an 11 Pro. the only things from my 15 Pro I regularly find to be an improvement is USB-C and the 120hz refresh rate (more rarely I remember a single time I found the dynamic island to be extremely useful which was tracking flights so I could pick up my girlfriend from the airport). I always had to charge my Mini at least once throughout the day, the 15 Pro I can get home and it'll be at 60%. The always on display is a nice plus too, I had it years ago on my Droid Ultra and it's nice to see it on an iPhone finally. I loved my 12 mini and ALMSOT got the 13 just due to the better battery and soc. The whole 12 series was plagued by bad batteries and poor 5g optimistic. So my 12 mini battery life was a stretch for what I used to for. Also I live in Florida and worked as a delivery technician for medical supply company, so I was out in the heat and use GPS a lot which not only ate the battery up on the phone because of the slow down and get extremely hot at times. That was more just an issue of the area I live in and how I used it but every phone I've had afterwards has not had that issue. That's said I would not mind picking up a 13 mini of the backup phone and just because I really enjoyed the size of that particular iPhone. The only issue I ever ran into in terms of using it was the fact that I have bigger thumbs and sometimes it would either not register or have a lot of missed inputs due to it thinking I'm hitting two things at once. Outside of that it was a pretty great product.

I think the problem with the “mini” iPhones are the battery life. Most people thought it was just an overall worse product, it didn’t really have to do with the size. When people buy a new phone, they want the better option. It’s like when the iPhone 8 and 10 came out at the same time. The 8 was actually a pretty great phone but people only cared about the 10. It’s kinda human psychology to think more expensive = better. I honestly prefer smaller phones. I have the 15 pro and I can’t reach the top either unless I move my hand. It’s not unbearably annoying but I wouldn’t mind a 15 mini if that existed.
