Got to say I disagree with you on this one (personally). I have a iPhone 12 mini with a silicone case and it feels like it’s a match made in heaven. I see the fact that it’s not integrated in a case as a plus because it allows for my phone to be super sleek when I don’t need to battery . This thing was a life saver on my trip in Japan because it was lightweight and I didn’t need a dedicated case/ cable to charge my phone.. I will say the small battery size and inefficiencies do make it a little annoying to use. On hotter days I can tell it depletes way faster.

I think you are spot on as far as the video is concerned. I noticed that it came out about the same time that the iPhone mini came out due to its smaller size and possible battery issues. I also noticed that it was removed once there were no minis in the lineup anymore so my guess is that its intention was for mainly mini owners. I don't have the mini but I do have the battery pack. I have noticed that it really is more of a battery extender so if you plan on heavy usage for a day you put it on at 90% and it sips battery throughout the day. That's what I use it for and it works perfect for that as the main battery stays around 90%. That's where the worth of this MagSafe battery comes into play. If you are using it mainly to get a battery boost of like 34-40% then I would say it isn't worth the cost. Excellent video by the way. You are very articulate and get the point across perfectly.

Interestingly enough, this is one of my highly rated products from Apple. But that's only because I know how it's intended to be used even though it's expensive. When I went to a premium Apple reseller to buy one, the person told me that it's a waste to get one. His reasoning was because they're also selling a Belkin one with double the capacity. I told him that I wanted to get this one because it's the only one that doesn't overheat. His argument was that the Belkin one is the "new one that doesn't overheat", which didn't manage to convince me. If even a person who works at an authorised Apple reseller doesn't know the intended use of this product, how would the average consumer know the difference? If anything, I'd blame Apple's lack of documentation for this product more than anything else.

thanks for your video, but I want one! Wish Apple still sold battery cases. I had one on my old XR iphone and it had 95% battery life after 4 years of use.

Also I don’t think they discontented it because they agree with you… it was made to fit all iPhones at the time (iPhone mini) and that product doesn’t exist anymore so I’d imagine they are reimagining a MagSafe battery pack for new iPhones and are gonna integrate USB C for better charging

That's a very good point. Both comments were. I will say that I could see it being usable. My big issue is that the way a lot of people use it versus the way apple intended for it to be used cause it to fall short of expectations for users. I hope they design one that's a better and more versatile next time around.

@@GarrettCrespo I think Apple should have explained it actual use than the way the customers were traditionally using battery packs. I think it was really made from peoples frustrations of battery draining through the day using the mini phones since most were not making it through the entire day. And the price of that battery pack was way too much like about 1/7 of the cost of the mini itself.

I use the anker one with my iPhone 12 and it just feels like another thing I have to charge and heats up my pocket. Now I’m looking into a mid-range phone where I can replace the battery if and when it goes bad

We're definitely spoiled as a society. Technology and the advancements were seeing is amazing. So it warps our perceptions and raises our standards for tech.
