@ddc1632643 жыл бұрын
You missed a whole bunch. While that WAS Apple's first OFFICIAL stand alone store, it was NOT their first store. back in the late 90's, I was the original manager and merchandiser and helped develop what would become their 1st store within a store. I worked with Guy Kawasaki to develop the basic look and style. Steve came in many nights after the store closed to improve and approval of the work. How to display product and accessories, the demo tables and areas, etc. They even did some of the first VR recordings of the store to allow virtual walk through's. It was only after that was done, that Steve decided there was enough interest and viability to actually do a stand alone store. Steve was a very two sided person to work with. If he felt you were acceptable, he was fine, if not he could be awful.

Apple stores are, cold, stark, and uncomfortable. Most of the software on the display machines is deactivated, and nothing is hooked up to try. Wanna see how Logic Pro works? Good luck with that. Also, if you just stop by to grab an accessory, you have to wander around hoping to find someone to ring you up on their iPad cause there is no register. last time I went to get a keyboard cover for my MBP, it was hung so high I had to use another item to knock it down, and I'm 6' tall. Apple products are the key to success of the store. I prefer the Apple section at Best Buy over the Apple stores.

When Apple stores first started to open up around Southern California whenever, I went inside it was pure heaven. Each store highlighted their newest desktop and laptop systems and all the fun things you could do if, only you owned an Apple computer. There were rows of software, plus printers, plus scanners, even digital cameras, and video recorders. If you needed help, just bring your older Apple computer from home and the Genius Bar staff would take excellent care of you. Remember back , when trying to access wireless internet using Apple's classic operating system's OS 8.6 and 9.0 which costs, $129 each was not always easy. But staff at the Genius Bar would, just gave me a free copy of the most current OS 9.1 or 9.2, and typed in all the correct settings for me. Wow, how low things have now fallen. Today, it makes me so sad every time, I walk inside an Apple retail store because all the fun and magic is now gone (smile...smile).
