OK BUT WHEN JULIEN SAID THEY WANT TO STAY NERVOUS FOREVER that is actually so precious... they always want it to matter.
@coachholly21 Жыл бұрын
I agree with the sentiment that Julien comes off as a "one-man band." She sounds so complete on her own. I was lucky enough to see her solo at the Fairmount in Montreal. She was on stage, just her and her guitar, and the room was so silent you could've heard a pin drop. She's just so encapsulating and enrapturing all on her own.

I love them 10x more now because they nailed that on the head. Wanting so badly to be friends with your favorite celebrity because you just think you'll click but it's just not meant to be. wow.

The Christian joke at 25:35 and Zane absolutely not getting it. Love them so so much. Also, hard relate to Lucy being obsessed with Li Young Lee and forgetting how pornographic his poems are until you go to read them outloud.
@thevampiresliars Жыл бұрын
I didn't get it either, could you explain it to me please? I'm kinda new here, does it have to do with the religious themes in Julien's music?
@zavs350 Жыл бұрын
@@thevampiresliars I'm honestly not sure if I got it as well, but if I had to guess --- it might have something to do with the whole confession thing in vacation bible schools or on retreats. You know, that thing where they make you sit in a circle, someone starts playing solemn music, then you say what you want to whoever or whatever's up there.... and then people start crying. That's at least how I understood it, since I experienced it lmao Both Lucy and Julien were raised Christians (Lucy's irreligious, Julien I believe still is but somewhat agnostic, while Phoebe's atheist), they tackle religion pretty frequently in their music.

I feel like the supergroup/solo career discussion is most interesting with boygenius cause when i think of supergroups i think typically people who were in wildly famous bands that then got together later in their career for a band that is comprised of super stars. But boygenius were pretty popular as individuals but not nearly as big as they are now that they have combined forces. Medium names got together and became bigger names and then split to do more solo, rather than super big careers that end and then new band is super group but theres no back and forth. It’s such a good twist for a modern era of music

I know so little about this place. You are very special to me. I relate to you in ways that I haven’t with many others since this has began. Normal, and connected, which I value more than anything else in this place. I couldn’t give you more profound thanks. Really, real and honest thank yous for your support when there wasn’t any elsewhere. You are beautiful, you are smart, you are talented and you are exactly good and preferable people in the absolute sense imo. And rock stars : ) of course. I don’t know what comes next but I know I continue on my struggle. I don’t know how but I know there are things still going on and that I should continue on in politics like I have as best as I can. There is nothing more I’d like to do than be in the company of people as caring as you, as cool and preferable as you because I know you would be there for me in important ways. Maybe one’s only people my age could help me with. But that is not what is on the table right now and I have to continue inwards in ways that are different than preferable. Different but ideal still in many ways. And I hope to make you proud, and I’ll see you soon and we’ll hang out! Love you all, sincerely Tim

Zane invites interesting conversation but I can't help but feel he indulges himself too much in his interview style. He's always desperate to share his own anecdote, his own perspective, and he seems to hold his own opinion as gospel. It comes off as a bit presumptuous, and doesn't always bring the best out of his interviewees, IMO. Boygenius are incredible and super eloquent without needing it to be The Zayn show.
