Don't buy a Samsung refrigerator. The ice maker will break after less than 2 years of ownership. There is a class action lawsuit against Samsung for their defective ice makers. The ice makers are very poorly engineered, and you will spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on repairs. Also good luck getting a Samsung fridge repaired, very few appliance repair shops are willing to work on them, and you will wait weeks, if not months for parts!

Can confirm. Have had the 28 cubic foot Samsung french door refrigerator since 2016 and nothing but problems with the icemaker, as well as 2 temperature sensors going out, along with a design flaw in the drink drawer where ice forms in there. Insane

I am warning everyone who is thinking about buying a Samsung refrigerator to think again. I bought a new one and started having a issue with it. They told me they could not fix it and they don't have any available. I was told they would refund me now they keep putting me off. I keep calling and get no where. It is under warranty. I have never dealt with people like this ever. I am going to seek legal action to see what can be done.

I would avoid buying Samsung at all cost. Got myself refridgerator that makes sounds louder than my 21 year old refridgerator and customer service is simply terrible. They claim it is feature rather than bug and basicaly told me that they dont care at all about noise and my satisfaction. Feel free to KZbin it and think is this device something you want in your house Avoid Samsung at all cost

Samsung appliances are total garbage. Our new Samsung $3k fridge went out exactly at one year old. We called Samsung and they said they would take care of it since it was so close to the warranty date. After 5 weeks of runaround, we were informed that they had no service in our area, and they would give us a refund. We said great, but after another few weeks of runaround, they told us "Some decision board" had declined the refund. We contacted a local appliance service to repair, and they said it needed a new mainboard for $1200. Our previous GE fridge made in America lasted 22 years. Samsung sucks!

I think you have to use a rewriter jig that plugs up to the board. I’m not a tech but I do know that’s what’s used to do the programming. Edit: yeah the rewriter displays your current version.

Samsung and LG both had issues with their refrigerators; LG linear compressors failing and Samsung ice makers freezing. Both manufactures have redesigned their parts respectively. Samsung now offers a 2 year parts and labor warranty on the ice maker and LG offers a 5 year labor warranty on the compressor. Every (new/renovated) house that I visited all have a Samsung or LG fridge/appliance. Since there are more Samsung and LG appliances out there compared to American brands, repair techs will tell you not to purchase a Korean appliances since they work on them the most.

A while back ago was looking all over town for a rental unit, on one of them noticed the Samsung French style fridge(came with the apartment in the whole building) had a defective keyboard display. Granted it was a rental unit and no one would take care of them like the owner would. On the other hand, this is a personal experience, whole family had left for Vegas for a three day trip & only to realize we had left our LG fridge ajar. Needless to say it had been running continuously; we moved out of the house four years later and it just kept going without any detrimental effect.

I first hand experience that samsung fridge with water dispenser and automatic ice maker are rubbish. before i bought my samsung i read a lot of bad reviews, but i didn't heed, on the 7th year of the fridge the ice maker was been replaced, and on the 8th year icing on the vent, called up the technician, and gave us a quote of $800 for the parts and labor. A lot of parts are needed to be replace and the technician advice us,to buy a new one rather than fix the fridge cause there's no guarantee that it will last, and told us that is the common problem with samsung.

Because they are impossible to get someone to come fix things. They don't have nearly enough techs compared to other brands. How many weeks do you want to be without your fridge? Unacceptable for a new appliance.

I just got a notice in the mail that my LG refrigerator filter is due to be replaced. Yeah my LG refrigerator I bought in 2017 is long gone. It broke down in 2020. So I won't need to change the filter. But Thank anyway. ☹️ I got rid of it and bought a Samsung.

I just did the same thing. I had the LG just shy of four years and it quit cooling. The compressor had always been noisy and over the last year it failed progressively. I decided to not have it repaired and bought a Samsung Bespoke. I looked at other brands but I have space limitations due to the built-in area where the fridge is located. Other counter-depth fridges, such as a Whirlpool don’t fit. I’m hopeful I’ll have a better experience with the Samsung but am aware that it too has reliability issues. I have heard from several people that appliances in general aren’t what they used to be-that is lasting 20 years or more without major issues. I think large conglomerates buying formerly smaller, independent companies, in addition to lack of consumer protections, has created this problem.

Samsung fridge , they were trying to fix my fridge for the 4th time, at no charge so far, received a call last week saying that the issue they’ve tried to fix, is a wiring problem and it is unfixable, fridge is less than 5 years old and no they are not going to replace it, luckily I bought the extended warranty and the insurance is going to call me tomorrow, looks like I am getting a new fridge, in my price range there are only two. Lg 847l and Samsung 807l. Whichever I get I am getting the 7 year extended warranty. I am feeling upset with Samsung but they have the features I like, but lg has been fantastic with repairs, my tv was two months out of warranty and they replaced motherboard and power supply for free. The tv is still going three years later. So I might get an lg and put an iPad in the kitchen for recipes. As that is all I was using the Samsung smart tablet for.

To everyone reading this & those writing comments about your bad experience..Be aware that a refrigerator is a very simple device & when repairman tell you its a bad compressor I can guarantee you it's not,its actually a frozen condenser in 99% of cases,& you need to melt it after removing back panel,then you have to install insulation tape around the area to keep it from happening again.

LG‘s linear compressor is quiet, efficient but not very reliable. There are even some lawsuit cases about the compressor failure. On the other hand, Samsung has the ice maker problem. I'm struggling right now. May be I'll leave that to the coin to make the call ! BTW, Bosch is another good alternative but 20.5 cu. ft. capacity .......!!!

If I was to choose between both I'd personally choose samsung over LG. Why you may ask? Okay samsung has issues with the ice makers. LG in the other hand smh. Horrible compressors. Literally will have a hot box in your entire fridge. With samsung you would at least still be able to cool/freeze your food. By the way ANY brand that has the ice maker in the refrigerator will have issues. Just a bad design overall in my opinion.

@@igorram9507 exactly. We have an LG and a repair tech has been out 3-4 times we still have a non-working refrigerator. Compressor replaced, top evaporator replaced, bottom freezer evaporator replaced, leak fixed, but still broken. From looking at comments it seems the ice maker is the main complaint from Samsung owners. I'd rather have a broken ice maker than constantly having to throw out spoiled food / non working refrigerator + freezer.
