“Get comfortable with being uncomfortable”… I like that approach. You’re going to feel uncomfortable, but that’s OK; it won’t kill you.

I think investing in some custom mold active ear pro would be a good investment for you especially as an instructor. Helps save more of your hearing and makes talking with students easier with not having to take them in and out all the time

My experience with even very expensive electronic ear pro is that they don’t do as good as traditional ear plugs. Plus batteries are dumb and will fail at some point.

@@BenStoeger187 can you explain why if possible? Just wondering as i started shooting a year ago with some walkers and after a doctors recommendation of getting some molds it's helped a lot with preserving what left i have of hearing and itd help to hear another perspective.

Ben, are you able to call your shots shooting predictibly? I do struggle to shoot targets during the match as fast as I shoot the targets doing the doubles drill without "match pressure". Any advice how to overcome this or should I just work hard to get there?

Is the position of your mag pouches in this video how you would run them in a match?

I don’t understand the question. This is how Ben ran his belt when he was a multitime National Champion.

Hey BEn.. why TOP Shooter does have electronics ear muffs or electronics ear plugs (tons of $) and you have simple Ear Plugs??? i am doing the same myself just wondering ..

Maybe not what Ben would say, but my words-batteries are stupid. They quit on you at the worst times and electronic ear pro is expensive. Lose them or break them in the middle of a match and you’re hosed. Rubber or foam is cheap and easy to carry and you can carry extras for super cheap. Oh, you’re already doing that!😊

I think electronic ear plugs are inherently unsafe. Earmuffs are cumbersome and he would be constantly removing it to speak between sets. I would opt for the same in his situation.

At 10 yards most people will likely be predictive at 0.18 or less, and will likely call both shots at 0.25, for a difference of 0.07 (see if you agree with this). A three targets array will give just over 0.2 sec advantage for predictive over reactive. If shooter throws in only one C, they'll have to run the stage at 10 HF to make it a wash. 5 HF stage will penalize you twice over. Do a video on risk/reward of predictive shooting in matches. I feel like it is only justifiable if you can guarantee all As, or HF is very high buy I could be wrong.

I would rather make a video about how the way you analyze things is holding you back in your development.

Anything that can help my development, including a critique of my analysis, is appreciated. I shoot predictive a lot, both in practice and matches. What I wrote is an observation from a personal experience, not a theoretical pontifications.

Well, the difference is a lot more for me. Predictive splits are 0.18-0.20. Reactive are often 0.35+.
@michall3918

Reactive 0.25 seems crazy fast. I can call my shots at predictive pace of about 0.18 but calling is not reactive, 0.3 is super fast reactive shot for me and 0.35 good

“Most people” are not shooting 0.18s predictively & 0.25s reactively at 10 yards.
