This video says it all about how a golf swing should react. I'll probably end up watching it a dozen times to let it all sink in. I never realized the swing starts off segmented in the beginning and expands to it limit at the bottom. Thank You!

Yes! That is what you primarily need to learn to have an effective golf swing. Once you have the skill, your body movements should fall into place pretty naturally! Thanks!

I like it. A nice bit of Manuel De La Torre in your teaching! The point on leverage is the cause of most of my bad shots! Thanks

Best golf tuition online and this is from someone who has spent years, researching the swing and years watching you tube tutorials. I first swung a club in 1969!!! This is the REAL DEAL folks : you cannot minipulate a golf club with your hands and arms, or hit at the ball. For me it feels like the swing is over by p3 in the backswing, keep rotating and just feel the release, ie the backswing release at p4. The momentum of the club releasing at p4 ie transition must feel like an eternity, with no desire to "hunt" the ball.

Great first person description of the feels! The intent to hit or swing the club destroys the optimal motion. The golf motion is the Radius of Rotation being extended under the Fall of Gravity! Trying to manipulate the shaft to make the club go faster or "keep it on plane" will create resistance to the total motion! Thanks!

Application of this method when I started this game would have saved my back. I believe this is a healthier way to swing a club.

Hi Dan, thanks for your methodology of golf swing. Please tell me, is the mental concept of just swinging the grip to right shoulder (backswing) and left shoulder (downswing) a simple but complete swing thought that organizes body movements automatically?

Hi, I tend to hit the ball very high which is great for stopping the ball quickly but when it's windy I struggle, how can I control the trajectory using your swing theory without manipulating the club?
@danmartingolf
@danmartingolf Жыл бұрын
Steven, great question! Most likely the ball is going too high is that you are applying a leverage to the shaft (manipulating) in an effort to speed up the club head. This invariably stalls the extending radius and creates the "flip" looking impact position. Alternately, if you learn to allow the radius extend via the transfer of angular momentum, the handle will tend to "lean" forward more and hit a lower trajectory. The trick is to not try to "swing" the club with your wrists, but allow your arms and the club to extend freely as a result of the whole body's rotation around a vertical axis straight to the center of the earth. Swinging the PRO allows you to see if you are applying the manipulation as it will form an angle between the grip and rope. This is hidden in the club shaft. This is a really common issue and will be a great topic for a future video that I'll shoot soon! Thanks!

WOULD THIS WORK WITH THE MANUEL DE LATORRE METOD OF SWINGING ?

The PRO works with all methods because it reveals the true motions you must make to have an efficient club - so yes! Thanks!

Hi Dan, really like your videos with the Pro, I've been using mine quite a bit recently. I noticed how your lead/left shoulder separates from your chin at the start of the downswing. Is this a conscious effort on your part or a reaction from turning around your swing center (top of spine). Thanks again.
@danmartingolf
@danmartingolf 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! This is a huge part of learning to use your PRO - your arms and the PRO unfold simultaneously from the transfer of momentum from the spin of the body. If you are allowing this to work for you, all your joints will free to move - if I was keeping my left shoulder against my chin, I would be resisting the unfolding of the arms and club. In our golf swing, our backswing will usually not event have the shoulder up against the chin at all because we don't have to fold it behind us like the PRO. Also, no golf swing moves are actually conscious, they are reactive to your intent - that's how we build reliable physical skill! Thx!

@@jeffcaminiti162 I like his overall simplicity. And I like his concept of swinging the whole club, which I interpret as making the club a part of your body instead of applying forces to it.

It’s not a single pendulum? But,a series of swings within the motion? Seems like Jack Nicklaus mastered this concept. Appears that low point is moved thru body motions and swing stays constant.
@danmartingolf
@danmartingolf Жыл бұрын
It’s not a pendulum at all, it is a sling where the radius of rotation is small in transition and extends all the way through the ball as it simultaneously falls with the acceleration of gravity. A pendulum has a consistent radius at all times. The arms and club are folded in the back motion and transition then unfolded by their own inertia from the rotation of the total system. Thx!

Aren't you letting the weight of the clubhead pull your body through the swing to the finish?
@danmartingolf
@danmartingolf Жыл бұрын
Not exactly - but you could look at the motion as your body reacts equal and opposite around it's line of gravity to support the "intent" of extending the radius of the club to strike the ball for you. Essentially, the clubhead is a part of your body when you make an efficient motion. It doesn't pull you, your entire body rotates such that all angular momentums of your total body are equal and opposite around your line of gravity. Your body works WITH the extending club head as your skill improves, the club head does not pull you. If you do it really well, the clubhead will be extremely light feeling until it reaches full extension. Thanks!

You can't hit a good golf shot, without flexing the shaft. You can only properly flex the shaft., by using the power of gravity and allowing the mass of the body, to be mechanically coupled to the clubhead!!!!
@danmartingolf
@danmartingolf 11 ай бұрын
As you just stated, it is impossible to hit a good shot without the shaft flexing. The key is not to flex the shaft with leverage in an attempt to use your wrists and forearms to speed the club head up, but to merely to use the shaft to connect the club head to your body. This is very difficult for most players and why the PRO is essential to training this skill! Thx!
