Wearing sunscreen is important for a variety of reasons ‼️
The primary reason is to protect your skin from the harmful effects of the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays, which can cause sunburn, premature ageing, and even skin cancer.
When you’re out in the sun, your skin is exposed to two types of UV rays: UVA and UVB. UVA rays penetrate deep into the skin and can cause premature ageing, while UVB rays primarily affect the surface of the skin and can cause sunburn. Both types of UV rays can contribute to the development of skin cancer over time.
To protect your skin from these harmful effects, it’s important to wear sunscreen every day, even on cloudy days. Sunscreen with a high SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of 30 or higher can help block both UVA and UVB rays.
The one seen above is the Advanced Brightening UV Defense SPF 50 from @skinceuticals
✅ Suitable for all skin types
✅ Reduce the appearance of discolouration and age spots
These are the areas of the body that are most exposed to the sun, and therefore most vulnerable to the damaging effects of UV rays. Be sure to apply sunscreen liberally, and reapply it every two hours, or more often if you’re sweating or swimming.

Sunglasses that don’t explicitly have polarization actually expose your eyes to damage in the sun due to making your eyes feel protected from the darkened lens, so your pupils relax and widen, but with no real protection they’re really just relaxing in the sun with a fake layer of protection and being damaged. Secondly, that’s a random assumption that sunglasses lenses protect your skin from UV rays! A false one too.

SPF doesn’t break down with time, it breaks down with sun exposure. The recommendation to reapply every 2 hours is “erring” on the side of caution, because that would be the recommended amount if you’re at the beach or something. The same sunscreen can last 2 hours or the whole day depending on your sun exposure

I've learned in chemistry class. Uni. After eight hours, S PF 50 has only reduced to spf30. So you do not need to reapply every two hours unless you're outside and or in the water.. So if you're indoors in an office... A light application thirty minutes before you leave home is just fine.. Or if you're gonna be out in the sun after work, then absolutely go ahead and refresh...

Well, it might still be somewhat effective in the areas it hasn’t broken down or rubbed off of. Remember, putting on or removing clothing, rubbing our eyes, blowing nose, touching face, fabric rubbing against skin, washing hands, eating, even light sweating, and just every day things can rub off or remove the sunscreen film in many places. If I could go back and tell my younger self to reapply during the day and before leaving work….i 100% would. We had to work under fluorescent lights too, as well as big giant windows in the 6th floor of a building. Very exposed. If people don’t think fluorescent lights do damage, just go to Walgreens or wherever, and look at makeup that’s exposed to those lights like the first item on a hook. Take several off and notice how the color of the item from furthest back is still rich and true in color, and the one in the front is bleached out and old looking. Even the packaging itself may be damaged from the lights. I wasn’t trying to argue with you. It’s just if I could go back and tell myself what I know now, I would in a heartbeat.

I like to think of it like sunscreen breaks down and rubs off same way makeup does, and it’s easier to visualize makeup bc we see it at the end of every day how it has completely disappeared sometimes in certain places. Imagine that all over your body, like if you were wearing a sweater on your arms and you take it off before leaving work, it probably rubbed all sunscreen off your arms etc.

No you don't need to. You can apply a thick layer and you'll get the recommended SPF, or 2 times a day with a thinner layer. Alternatively you could get a sunscreen with a higher spf like 50 and apply once thinly and still get around 20-30 spf. Reapplying every 2 hours is a little extreme.
@woodyboot9355

Yea its funny because spf 15 blocks 93% and after 2 hours an spf 50 prob still above spf 15 so you just could be blocking 4% percent more by reapplying which actually sounds like a lot because I'd say 10% would be worth blocking but not 1% but 5% prob will reapply every 2-3hours

Just don’t spend much time with that UV light on your eyes!! I once had to make an emergency visit to the hospital in the middle of the night when I decided it would be a good idea to put the free light I got into my aquarium, which I sat right next to for a few hours. Turned out to be a UV light meant for pond filters.. The pain took some hours to set in but was unbelievably bad when it did.

Lmao that was a UV sterilizer, that was dangerous UVC. The LED UV diodes talked about in this video are UVA, not UVC. No healthcare professional (or even just any sane person) would blast themselves with UVC. UVC kills cells, that’s why it’s used as a germicide. Also that UVC could have easily killed your aquarium’s animals by putting it directly in/near the water calumn like that. Ignorant idiot. If you don’t know what a UV sterilizer is or how to use one, you shouldn’t have been using one. You shouldn’t have an aquarium with animals.

The UV light you see from the fish tank is UV-C, which is inherently harmful to health and has strong ionizing properties. It ranges from 100 to 280 nm, so even all UV-C from the sun is blocked by the atmosphere, making it more toxic than UV-B. However, the type of UV commonly used for observing fluorescence is UV-A, typically at 395 nm or 365 nm. While not strong enough to cause harm to the skin or induce cancer, it still has the potential to cause clouding of the lens in the eyes (Cataract) with prolonged exposure.

Back then people spent a lot more time outdoors in the sun and children grew up playing in the sun with no sun screen, yet today, in a time when people spend a lot more time indoors, many children grow up playing console games etc and most people use sun screen when they go out in the sun, the rates of skin cancer have increased so much. @Gingabread-bw6xj
@Gingabread-bw6xj 2 ай бұрын
@@JT-oh4eu are you aware that it’s usually older people who are diagnosed with skin cancer? Which checks out with the fact that people used to go outside all day in the sun without protection. It’s not the 20 and 30 year olds getting diagnosed right now. I think the most common age is about 65. It’s the same people who went outside and didn’t really know about sunscreen. The stat is also not really true for every country. For example, Australia had a major public health push for sunscreen use for a few decades and their rates have been dropping. You’re not entirely wrong about the stats and is good to question why it’s increasing. But you’re missing factors like earlier diagnosis, people are going to get moles checked more frequently, general public awareness, people living older, taking more beach days, being able to travel more for vacations like trips to warm climates in winter and the fact that skin cancer from UV is not quick. It can take a number of bad burns and years before signs of cancer. So there’s a lot of compounding factors that go into the rates of skin cancer increasing.
@Gingabread-bw6xj
@Gingabread-bw6xj 2 ай бұрын
@@amywilkinsit’s not the sunscreen. Do the math again and you’ll see it’s older people making up the majority of skin cancer stats. The same people who didn’t wear sunscreen and went outside all day. They’ve had more exposure over time to the UV radiation, so they’ve been at more risk. The rates are also decreasing in areas that had public health pushed for sunscreen and sun protection in general.

Although most of the sunscreen sold today have pleasant scents and packaging, they also happen to contain a plethora of toxic chemicals. Some of the chemical ingredients in conventional sunblocks may even increase the risk for skin cancer as well as lead to a variety of surface disorders and even damage internal organs.

9 of the 15 chemicals found in most commercial sunscreens are known endocrine disruptors. So not only are these chemicals highly reactive to sunlight, but they also interfere with the normal function of endocrine glands, leading to hormonal imbalances.

well firstly, very little chemicals present in sunscreen actually makes it into your blood, there's been numerous studies that show that these chemicals end up in urine anyway, so our body metabolizes and excretes them. also for something to be considered an endocrine disruptor, it has to negatively impact your health, which mineral AND chemical sunscreens don't do. if you label anything that changes your hormonal levels an endocrine disruptor, then food and stress should also be avoided too according to your logic.

U hate sunscreen and I know I should probably use it but I don’t and this is exactly why…. How this looks under uV and sum even show darker… but anyways I’ve been lookin for sunscreen for my toddler son he’s mixed and his skin is very soft and light toned but a nice crisp tan look 😅😂❤…. He gets hot very easily and I mean SWEATS he’s 4… the simplest things. So I have to watch what I put on his skin bcuz majority things just sit on top of ur skin … and sun screen is one of them it b BLAZIN in the summer time the sun the humidity now u got moisturizer so he not ashy in his shorts now I gotta apply sun screen too let’s just say we minus the moisturizer and just apply sun screen u see how greedy that shit is 😅🤦🏾‍♀️ I just feel bad for him bcuz idk what to do or what works …. ALSO A HUGE THING he gets heat rashes bcuz he b so hot it’s like 🤦🏾‍♀️then he has eczema as well.. and that’s y I don’t use it bcuz I also have eczema but I’m not as easily hot either he has to stay damn near naked in the summer time and he’s autistic so applying this every 2 hours will b a struggle 🤦🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️just sayin I need help y’all

Unfortunately for how it will react to with your skin varies from person to person. You just have to try out different sunscreens. The best one is one you will use everyday as opposed to what the highest SPF is. People are buying lower SPF because it’s more common in stores. Anything over SPF 30 also used to be more expensive so that was a factor for a while. Sunscreen will clog pores and cause skin issues if you forget to wash it off. It’s not a moisturizer. It’ll cause a break out depending on your skin on that day. The SPF doesn’t have anything to do with how it’ll affect your skin and your skin type. Think of it this way. You apply 100 SPF and your friend applies 50 SPF. After a few hours the sun screen is less effective from being rubbed off, cracking (more on a molecular level) etc. After those few hours you are getting protection of a 50 SPF and your friend is getting 25 SPF. It just refers to how much UV it blocks. This is very simplified but you get the gist. People do seem to have small break outs more often with mineral sunscreens. At least from what I’ve seen online. But for others it works perfectly and they break out from chemical sunscreen. As a pale redhead I’ll be the first to say there’s no easy answer to what the best sunscreen is. You have to try them out and see what works for you. You don’t need to go to high end brands either. What I’ve done, so I don’t feel like I’m wasting my money is sunscreens I don’t like where it feels heavy and looks incredibly greasy, I’ll use on my body instead and look for formulations specifically for the face. I find they tend to react less with any moisturizer underneath and don’t make me look super shiny.
