Black Africans have therefore discovered that symmetry is essentially the canon of nature's beauty. The first function of braids, at its brith, was therefore to pay homage to the creator through its creation. And this is why African hairstyles represent for example the skin of zebras (hairstyles where the lines imitate the stripes of African zebras), or even represent the mane of Lions with royal hairstyles or members of the king's court (royalty is invented in black Africa and the Lion and the Bee have always been the symbols of royalty) like the "rasta" hairstyle also called "dreads", or "locks", or even hairstyles represent a snail like the hairstyle that some call "bantu knots" which Africans call the hairstyle of a strong woman because perhaps when a snail clings to a rock no wave can shake it or for any other reason, then everything happens there: birds, shapes of leaves and tree roots and even fish. And in these prolific works of creation, there are hairstyle that mean "the earth is carried on my head" with braids in the form of scattered tree roots, and others that carry the sky with braids in the form of oblique lines on which are placed cowries symbolizing the stars of the solar system and where the hairstyle is pulled back by a bun symbolizing the invisible world or even the expansion of the universe. Braid hairstyles are therefore a cultural heritage of the Black people who made them on the African continent before the appearance of other peoples on earth, and no people have combs older than those of the Black of Africa. So some in the comments space must calm down, or find their minds and especially their common sense.

Thank you OscarRight for shedding light on the origin of braids, their history, their symbolic representations and the mathematical spirit they contain with this notion of bilateral, axial, radial symmetry, and so on. In addition, i love your sentence, i quote you: "Africans have discovered that symmetry is the canon of beauty of nature, hence their need to invent braids to pay homage to the creator God and Master of the universe". It is therefore necessary to note and recognize in all honesty that of all the traditions of peoples, the tradition of the Black people is entirely scientific and mathematical since it has always sought since its origin to connect and conform to the universe, hence the fact that it has always been cosmological. It is so obvious, God is not religious, he is mathematical and scientific. This is why the African tradition has never been based on belief, because it is a question here of saying what the universe says on the fruit of multiple investugations and verified by all.

What intrigued the Africans, the first humans to inhabit the earth, was that at nightfall everyone went to sleep and in the morning before and during sunrise all the animals began to sing and celebrate the birth day. The Africans said to themselves that behind all these phenomena there is a great invisible spirit who is the master of creation and to know this great spirit it is therefore necessary to study his creation in order to know him better (the acts he has already done). The Blacks of Africa noticed along all the watercourses, rivers, streams and ponds the frogs that they could even cut into two equal parts along the head, and they realiezed that symmetry had left in nature and in creation. God is therefore a geometer, he likes to draw like a little child. They understood that the whole universe rests under a fractal model, which is why all the villages, cities and temples of their kingdoms obeyed this fractal structure.

If you do some research on Kim you would know she’s a business women. She knows what she needs to do to make money. Now she’s got her bbl reduction surgery and has now started wearing blonde hair and lost weight to come back down to a a normal Caucasian woman’s physique. Let’s not mention how she wore Marilyn Monroe’s dress to the met gala. Then when it’s convenient she starts dressing in her Armenian outfits and what not. In conclusion, the whole karadshian family amongst others have built their legacy off of appropriating cultures for monetary gain. Mean while, the same cultures that they are appropriating gets nothing in return but getting called names like ghetto, unclean, nonprofessional (etc…). If you also do your research you would have know that the crown act was passed not to long ago.

@@daliahabimbola760 hmmm. You object about appropriation and also mention her wearing Armenian dress when convenient ...but she is Armenian... so? I don't see why your argument extends to her wearing Marilyn Monroe's dress? 'The CROWN Act was created in 2019 by Dove and the CROWN Coalition, in partnership with then State Senator Holly J. Mitchell of California, to ensure protection against discrimination based on race-based hairstyles by extending statutory protection to hair texture and protective styles such as braids, locs, twists, and knots in the workplace and public schools.' That's great! It protects people's rights. So where does it prevent people of different ethnic origins from wearing their hair how they wish? It doesn't take away freedom from others. This is where your argument falls down. You and your sisters have been discriminated against in the past (and are still being) and now this law has been passed to enshrine your rights and prevent discrimination ... so why do you want to restrict others' freedom? Can't you see the irony? Let me tell you this. My face is as white as snow and my hair is as black as coal and it's thick and wiry. I have tried the old South African 'pencil test' and the pencil doesn't fall out. Under Apartheid, I would have been classed as 'colored', i.e. now called bi-racial. As far as I know I'm not. But I have, as a kid, worn my hair in braids (two at sides of my head) and for fun I used to curl them in a loop as there was so much wiriness in my hair they would defy gravity. People thought I'd put wire through the middle because their smooth, straight hair could never do this. So, the texture of my hair and my classification as 'colored' means I'm eligible for wearing cornrows ...but the color of my skin does not?

Let's go back to the example of the frog that could even be split into two equal parts starting from the head. The Blacks of Africa have therefore noticed that symmetry is everywhere in nature, and that is why they always begin their braids by drawing a line all along the skull to start their creation on a perfect symmetry. It would not have surprised you that the Black is the only people on earth whose hair is vertical like an antenna reaching towards the sky, and their hair is curly. Ah, i like the old statues of Buddha that are represented with curly hair, it's great. Symmetry is therefore the natural canon of beauty. African hairstyles, i was going to say braids, have bilateral, radial, central, orthogonal and axial symmetry. We can even sometimes see simple, reflective, vertical, horizontal and complete translations on these braids. And there you have it, all these extraordinary works of braids our Black sisters make them without a square, compass, protractor, ruler, or even an eraser but it is done with great dexterity, and incredible genius as if they were constantly making series of models of motherboard circuits with the braids. When i told you that African culture is entirely scientific and mathematical here is the obvious proof. You will not be surprised to see tomorrow thanks to these thousands of models of African braids that the hard drives and removable media of the next generation will no longer experience data loss because everything will aotomatically repair itself.

The problem doesn’t lie with those who wear a particular hairstyle or clothes, it lies in the people who trash it based on who is wearing them. It also depends on how those styles are presented, such as people dressed as native Americans for Halloween when they “get into character” for entertainment. That would be a type of cultural appropriation. Had they simply worn those cultural “styles” during an appropriate time (ei a powwow with local tribes to show respect and singularity), it isn’t as big of a problem. It also stands out to me that Kim K has multiracial children, and may wear similar hairstyles in support of her kids.

Just so you KNOW: The oldest known reproduction of hair braiding may go back about 30,000 years: the Venus of Willendorf, a female figurine estimated to have been made between about 28,000 and 25,000 BC in modern-day Austria.[4] The Venus of Brassempouy from the southwest of France is estimated to be about 25,000 years old and shows a braided hairstyle. Culture appropriation is the inappropriate, ignorant, or disrespectful adaptation of a culture. If you were to portray a fraudulent performance of what you take them for, or mock them and their experiences by using something they hold dear such as a hairstyle, then it would be culture appropriation. As well as an uneducated representation of another culture to which one may also make fictitious, sometimes personal, claims. Especially to then be dismissive of the very same people you appropriated. It is not simply wearing something and most black people don't even think it's that simplistic. Yall just choose to think we do.

It’s easier to manage straight or wavy hair because it doesn’t dry out as much as curly hair, and protective styles help us maintain moisture so it’s really not necessary. @angels0auras, Braided wigs, my God you are so ignorant to the point of not knowing that the strands for braiding hair exist, and have always existed in their natural state (in nature) in Africa as a raw material. Before you start writing nonsense on the internet, take care to do the minimum of research. Now, tell me, who really dares to compete with Coca-Cola at the risk of being annihilated and for good, you surely know the law of the market, and how it works and who defines the rules. Straighten your hair, damn it, after having conditioned them to do it to be accepted in your society now you come to complain that these black women are alienated. Hey, you there, you are really very hypocritical. Yesterday, during slavery in your plantations of dehumanization, when these Black men and women sported their beautiful and extremely sophisticated braids, your married sisters were jealous because their husbands no longer had eyes on them, and the young single girls stared at the handsome braided Black guys, to the point that you made the decision to impose the wearing of the durag on these Black men and women. You have apparently forgotten this period of history. What will it be, tomorrow, that you will try to imitate in our beautiful Black sisters, after the big and voluptuous lips, the earrings, the big buttocks, their makeup, the color of their skin, but stop common sense from wanting to become like them because you will never be and they are of much better quality than you and that is why you are seriously jealous of them. Please, please, go find another means of distraction if not innovate like black women so as not to imitate them constantly.
