Hi, I'm in Europe and we don't have Nordic but other brands that very look alike. One of them is Taurus Selectabell. Do you know (or anyone else) if this is the same dumbbell? Even the version before is exactly the same but in other colors... Nordic and Taurus are both known for their fitnessquiment, but not for weight-equipment so should make sense. What do you think?

I got the Weider 55 pound adjustable dumbbells for $250 (2 dumbbells) at Sam's Club. Both Weider and Nordic Track are owned by a company called ICON. ICON manufactures these dumbbells. Both of these dumbbells are the same exact dumbbells just with different brand stickers. If the Weider ones are available to you I recommend you save $80 and get the ones sold by Weider.

Unfortunately, they jacked up the price from $299 to $399. I was able to get it last year before the hike. As someone that recently started lifting, I thought this 55 lb dumbbell will be overkill but nope. Progressed pretty quickly. Went from 130 lbs @ 5'7 to 160 lbs in about 13 months and I'm able to press the 55 lbs. If you're thinking this is too heavy, you will be able to max it fairly quickly. I chose this one because of the 2.5 lbs (mostly) increment which is a lot easier to progress than other brands that does 5 lbs. The only thing I dislike is the uneven distribution of weight like this video pointed out. Make sure you don't press the db upside down.

Hey, nice review video. I own these dumbbells. You actually can do 37.5 on these, although it does put the dumbbells off balance a little. You click both to the 2.5. Then put one side to the 30 and the other to the 40.
@Gym-Girls
@Gym-Girls 2 жыл бұрын
can u do all the 7.5 jumps ?
@Davepaul28
@Davepaul28 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you just count each plate as 5lbs. So the 10 notch is 5lbs on both sides of the handle. If you do 1 side to 10 and the other to 20. You are pulling out 15lbs. Then add the 2.5s and you get 17.5.

Thank you so much for your review Matt! I really enjoyed it, and your review of the Core Home Fitness adjustable dumbbells too. Will you please comment as to whether the NordicTrack or the Core Home Fitness dumbbells would be better for: 1. Standing overhead tricep extensions where you must grab the end of one dumbbell (loaded 40-50 lbs) with both hands, and other overhead dumbbell exercises work like 2. 45-degree decline dumbbell bench presses (loaded 40-50 lbs), and 3. dumbbell skull crushers as well? I was just at Dick's sporting goods looking at a blue version of this that only goes up to 50 lb and the ones that they had on display must have been broke so I was kind of worried about buying these. It wouldn't let me adjust on one side of each dumbbell so I don't know if somebody broke it as it was on display or what. Trying to decide if this is the way to go because when you look at people who are big into weightlifting you never see them use adjustable weights so I don't know what the pros or cons are my biggest worry is that because I do a lot of switching around because of the specific workouts I do I wonder if overtime the mechanism to switch will wear out. And when I do my workouts I am constantly switching weights. Just trying to make an informed decision because dumbbells and weights are definitely not cheap!

Hey brother, I like this honest review and the price seems decent in comparisons to other companies as the price can be expensive. I looked on Amazon Canada and they sell it for similar price, this will be my first time purchasing an adjustable dumbbells however, it won't be my first rodeo using weights. I just wish more of these had actual usable weight. if I'm buying adjustable dumbells it's supposed to be in ace of a home gym. the only ones worth mentioning in my opinion ion have to go atleast to 80 or 90 lbs and even needs to be improved to 125 or 150 each. that way they can be used for every and all workouts. which makes sense for people trying to buy dumbells in place of a home gym in like a small apartment

To achieve 17.5 lbs couldn’t you just put 2 plates on one side and 1 plate on the other side along with it’s 5lb setting (so actually it adds 2.5 lbs)? This would make it about 7.5lbs on one side of the dumbbell and 10 lbs on the other side = 17.5lbs. Is the 2.5lb imbalance that noticeable?

Can you split the smaller added weights, like do 2.5 on one side and 0 on the other - that should give you 1.25 added weight. Or 5 one one side and 2.5 on the other to give you 3.75 added pounds? They probably want you to do them in pairs but I wouldn't think it would matter much with the smaller weights.

That’s kind of a hard one. The Nordictrack feels more durable and has more weight choices. The core is so quick and convenient. If you plan to use an adjustable dumbbell for lighter lifts and real dumbbells for weight above 55lbs then I’d go core. If you just want one set and 55lbs is enough I’d go Nordictrack. You have Primal Adjustable Dumbells in the Uk.34.5 kg per dumbell.Absolutely same dumbels,diferent company.I just bought them.Seem solid and love it that they.re quiet and not making a big noise like the core or nuobells.When children sleep upstairs,you need a quiet dumbell.my only concern is that plastic thing used to select your weight.It only nesds to snap once and the plate to fall on your chest or face during chest press then you.re an ambulance case cause the plates have 4.5 kg.I am still undecided as to keep them or not even if they feel solid.I.ve seen reviews on amazon where they said the plates fallen but to be honest,you have this fear with any adjustable dumbells.Even the nuobells are using hard plastic on the area where plates connect. .I like the nuobells but they make too much sound and they not really available for the Uk.

Am I just bad at searching or are there really no other reviews of these? Even other multi reviews that came out after this video use the old style. What's up with that?

@@meancheeto did you decide? I'm in the same boat. Saw that they were the exact same product but $250 instead of $330 for Nordictrack...weird. I think I'm either getting these or the Core brand. These aren't even on Nordictrack's website so it's a tad concerning but I don't like the bulky ones like the blue model and Bowflex ones.

@@jkidd7608 yes, I decided to purchase these. I really like them. They are easy to adjust and I like that they're not as bulky as the Bowflex dumbbells. I have used them a few times already for curls, side/front raises, arnolds, fly's, kickbacks, you name it, and they feel damn sturdy. Overall I'm happy I purchased these. If you are looking for some decent dumbbells without overpaying, I say get them before Sam's club jacks up the price or before consumers realize these are affordable

That didn't seem like true 40lbs they way you lifted it like that. I have 40lb hex dumbbells and there's no way you can lift 40lbs like that. I don't think the adjustables accurate

The system is ok, nothing beat Powerblocks when it comes to adjustable dumbbells though, as in.. not even close. The same system as in the video, is also made for an adjustable barbell & ez-bar system, but it doesn't work great there, as there is imbalance in the weight distribution with this system, which is not noticeable realy with the dumbbells, but e.g. using the EZ-bar with this system for skull-crushers or doing bicep curls, then it becomes very noticeable & annoying.

Powerblocks are overpriced dogshit. Their awkward cumbersome shape means they are not as versatile as dumbbells due to their lack of radial symmetry.

Do you now prefer the Nordics to the Core's? You always comment how much you like the Core's for lighter loads. More importantly, do you have a recommendation for a lighter set of adjustables? Is it the Flybirds (25 lbs)? The reason I ask is I need a lighter set to carry in my RV when I travel & I really prefer the Core/Nordic style of not having the full extended bar width when using less than the max weight. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.....(!!)
@MattTolbers
@MattTolbers 2 жыл бұрын
The FlyBird 25lb are very small so I wouldn’t worry about the full bar much but yes the core and Nordictrack are a better design in my opinion. It’s a hard pick for me between the core and Nordictrack, both are at the top for adjustable dumbbells. Core are a little easier and quicker to change weight which is great for drop sets or just a good weight lifting experience where the Nordictrack have more weight choices and go 5lbs more, also feels a bit more solid if you accidentally dropped. I’d say if they are same price go Nordictrack, but if price gap is to much go Core forsure. The prices have changed so much so don’t want to comment on that as it may change again, but look into price difference and I’d let that be my main choices. Hope that helps
