According to "canon" the Vulcan captain is Sokar. His son Skonn had a quiet life as a researcher. His grandson Sarek may have been one of the greatest Vulcan's who ever lived and to paraphrase Picard "helped shape the Federation as it is". Sarek's son Spock - what more can I say. Cochrane is the best ambassador for humanity: he's not a politician, an idealist, or too intellectual; he's an everyman who just so happened to be a genius. First thing he does when encountering alien life forms? He doesn't give a speech to a crowd or ask them a million questions about their technology; no, he tries to make friends with them by taking them to the local bar, buying them drinks and showing them how to dance. I can’t even begin to express how grateful I am, and how lucky our world is, that the first alien species to visit earth spoke English

If KZbin is still around April 5th, 2063, I'll be back on this video to chat about the world. If anyone would like to join me, you're welcome to. God bless you all. See you in 40 years.

Each time I see this scene it brings tears to my eyes. Imagine the future we can have. Imagine the friendships we can make with beings from other worlds. Imagine one united human race that makes contact with being from other plants. We can do it. I know we can and we will one day travel through space, the final frontier. We can explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations. We can boldly go where no one has gone before.
