This is a new one for me, and I really dig everything about it! Really catchy, great rock & roll! Many thanks to Canada 🇨🇦 ❤ Thanks, Louis, for this banger request, and to Harri, for another incisive reaction.

Great Canadian band! I used to hang out with the drummers daughter…had a gold record on her apartment wall.

April Wine is a fantastic band, and has done some great covers and originals. Sadly, their long-time leader, Myles Goodwyn, RIP (Rock In Peace), passed away in December 2023..

From the 1972 album, "On Record", a Elton/Bernie masterpiece, recorded by Canadian Band April Wine. April Wine, a staple in Canadian Classic Rock, was one of the most popular and commercially successful Rock band in the 70's and early 80's. The great guitar work, with addictive bass line, beautiful flute, give way to a still groovy tune, a pumped up Elton version, with great vocals by Myles Goodwyn.❤ Still played on Canadian airways. ❤ Great reaction Harri.❤❤ More great Canadiana Louis 👏👏 Cheers from Canada❤❤🇨🇦🇨🇦

This sounds like a re-recording of the original 1972 cover

Some of my greatest fellow Canadians out there are honorary Canuck Harri, possible Canuck Louis, and most definite Canuck, the one and only Mary Baillie!!! Thanks for all you do, Mary, you always do us proud!!

April Wine was my first concert, Heart was the opening act, which took place back in 1976 in Kelowna BC Canada

You would be amazed how many people post that. They played arenas across North America incessantly. I saw a guy from Iowa post the same thing as me, first concert, opening act was Red Ryder (White Hot, Lunatic Fringe) Halifax Metro Centre around 80/81

April Wine has made a few covers into solid radio hits in Canada. This one, Could Have Been A Lady (Hot Chocolate), Sign of the Gypsy Queen, 21st Century Schizoid Man (King Crimson), Tell Me Why (The Beatles), But they have some great originals too. "Fast Train" (1971)"You Could Have Been a Lady" (1972)"Tonite Is a Wonderful Time to Fall in Love" (1975)"Roller" (1978)"I Like to Rock" (1981)"Just Between You and Me" (1981)"Sign of the Gypsy Queen" (1981)"Enough Is Enough" (1982)

"You Could Have Been A Lady " is not an original April Wine tune, it was a hit for the songwriters' Hot Chocolate.

You have 'Could Have Been a Lady' and 'Sign of the Gypsy Queen' each listed twice in your comment, each one under covers, and as originals.

This song is from early on: 1972. In the boxset it's on the ''singles'' CD. Saw them often in the 80's-90's and they always delivered. Never shying away from doing small venues benefit concerts. Another great band out of Montreal worth a react clip is Uzeb. Incredible musicians featuring master bass player Alain Caron. KZbin references: ''Uzeb - Solo Alain Caron'' + ''Alain Caron live - D-Code.'' Bonus - guitarist Steve Hill: ''Steve Hill (& Paul Deslauriers) Whipping Post Jam Live!"

if you are a Rush fan Neil Peart was inspired by this drummer Jerry Mercer early on by his work on the Mashmakhan piece Letter From Zambia. Another inspiration was Skip Prokop founding member of the legendary Canadian band Lighthouse

Yes by Elton John and Bernie Taupin. This is the same song played live by Elton plus his band Nigel Olsson (drums/vocals) and Dee Murray (bass/vocals) in 1970. This is also what Elton sounded like live before the guitarist Davey Johnstone joined the band.: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jorbepmaZ6egr5I

Canadian legends... One of their most underrated tracks is "Rock Myself to Sleep"

"Rock Myself to Sleep" is a good one not mentioned too often. They had so many hits some get lost in the shuffle.

Two years after Eltons! Myles Goodwyn wrote played and sang his own songs for over 50 years.

Is that a rerecording from the Greatest Hits album, it doesn't sound the same as the original (which I prefer)
