I am currently doing B.Pharm. I am planning to do M.Pharm after the 4 years completing it. On order to become a cosmetic chemist what should I do? Can you please guide me cause I am a bit confused. I saw many articles and people saying that Pharmacy is good to become a cosmetic chemist but I am still skeptical. What exactly should I go for from Pharmacy to become a Cosmetic chemist?

you're welcome and although this is a subjective question. I will say I have noticed that bigger cosmetic companies are more willing to hire a cosmetic chemist with a masters degree right out of school with little/no experience, otherwise, they would require you to have a couple years of experience before getting hired for the same position.

I highly recommend getting an internship position. Companies would love to see that on your resume after graduation. Do tons of research and ask your teachers lots of questions about the field! xo

I can see myself in either R&D or Processing. I have two questions for you though: Would you recommend getting a BS or BA in chemistry and why? Would I not be able to to find a job with a chem BA degree?

No it shouldn’t matter I know plenty of people working in this industry who have one or the other. Having a BA doesn’t put you at a disadvantage whatsoever!

Hello April! Thank you so much for giving such informative and helpful videos about being a cosmetic chemist. I am always curious and learning about skincare and beauty, your videos on being a cosmetic chemist have inspired me that this is something I can see myself as in the future also. Also, the Research & Development position as a cosmetic chemist seems like a lot of fun and something I would be interested to do later on if I can. Now I just had a couple of questions I wanted to ask that I have been confused about lately. I am currently doing my bachelor's degree as a public health major and may add chemistry as a minor soon. Is there any way I could still become or work as a cosmetic chemist in the future if I add chemistry as a minor in my field of study now? Or should I change my major completely to chemistry as a major if I want to really get my foot in the door after I graduate with a bachelor's? Thank you for your time!

Hi April!! I've just stumbled upon your channel this afternoon, and I am so delighted that you post such informative content!! I have a few questions to ask, if its okay with you :D 1) I have just graduated from high school, and I've been wondering, what majors should I take? 2) Also, should I just take a diploma in Science (Chemistry in Biology) or should I further them? 3) If I were to further them, is 'Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Bioscience with Chemistry' okay? Sorry I am not really familiar with terms like these, I'm fresh out of high school hahaha 4) How did you apply for jobs (online, or face-to-face) and where exactly should I apply for jobs? I live in Malaysia, and it seems like not a lot of people know about cosmetic scientists :( I really would want to thank you for making great videos! Hello, i'll answer your questions really quickly 1. Chemistry, Biology, or any sciences really should be fine. 2. I would add a minor related to the cosmetics field as well. 3. yes that should be fine, but do additional research. 4. I used linked-in extensively. April,is biology a necessity subject in order to apply cosmetic chemistry course? Im currently taking physics,chemistry,add maths and other important subjects except for bio....does that mean i cant apply for that course?

I wouldn't say it is a 'necessary' course for cosmetics chemistry but if your degree requires it, then yes you should take it.
