Phenomenal! We’ve always day dreamt of an outdoor shower… and we’ve finally found ourselves on a large piece of land, and reno’ing a travel trailer as we begin designing our forever home. The travel trailers bathroom is less than desirable, and we thought… why not rip out the shower, and finally make our outdoor one? This turned out absolutely beautiful and so inspiring. Ty for your time!

April... this is such a cool idea! I enjoyed watching this build and learned something... that jig for equal spacing is LEGIT!!!

I have similar at my barn. But I used a on-demand water heater that ignites on D-cell batteries and runs on 20lb propane bottle. All you need is a hose bib and hose to connect. The heater unit and propane bottle is mounted on a HF set of trucks which I pull out from under roof and connect in minutes. Works perfect and removes the plumbing issues. If I ever want to move the shower, I don't have plumbing issues to deal with. It surprised me how little the water heater cost that supplies plenty of hot water....even in those fall days when I am dirty and don't want to go home that way.
@rupe533 жыл бұрын
Tony ... I have one of those propane heaters and with all the misc fittings I think I'm into it for a bit over $200. I used a spring loaded "flush valve" for the water feed and the handle goes to a rope tied to a small piece of plywood. The idea is you step on the wooden pedal to start / stop the water. The rope has a spring connected so you don't over-crank the valve handle. I figured (roughly) I can get about 600 showers at 3 minutes each on a BBQ tank.

Living off-grid the outdoor shower/restroom was one of the 1st things I built. It's funny that I went with the same color scheme as you did and that was 5 years ago. The Cedar and pressure treated woods are aging nicely too. I left one side partially open (I have no neighbors) to have a perfect view of the surroundings and the animals. It's like watching "Wild Kingdom" while using the structure. I just love it. Another great build April 😘!!!

Thanks for the inspiration. I'll be putting mine where the water will drain directly onto a maple tree's roots. Just can't get enough water to our trees here in New Mexico, so this will be helpful for it and for me. Sometimes it's nice to just wet yourself down fully clothed to keep working in the heat...everything dries in minutes.

I built mine next to my shop using the board on board and used a tankless water heater from Amazon that uses a 20 lb propane tank and can hook up to a garden hose. It comes with a shower head and all hoses etc. About $125 and works great. You can easily remove it in winter if desired.

Another option for those who don't have access to hot-cold running water by punching through a wall may be using the propane-powered instant hot water units sold to campers. Spark is provided by batteries and all you need is a garden hose to supply water. With the right lookups you'd just tape into the tank running your BBQ.
