The octopus Topo was his pet sidekick in the comics like superman's dog krypto. Ps one of the reasons I am a DC fan is because literally three of the justice league members have connections to greek mythology: wonder woman obviously daughter of Zeus, Shazam with the power of most gods and aquaman king of Atlantis. All of those connections bring opportunities for mentions to canon greek myths.

Also just like in the film, the clay origin is supposed to be a lie that her mother told to protect. In the rebirth era when someone kills Heracles the story is that they want to vanquish all of Zeus' children and that she will be next... Along with the other half of the world's population I assume 😁

I liked the movie too. - I doubt Orm would have helped with anything less then his freedom as a option. And visting him first, just gives them a extra hint who broke them out - he left his Royal stuff at home, to make clear he did not do any of that as "King of Atlantis". So that even if he is found out, he can avoid war with the Fishermen. He is giving them Fishermen a "out" if they do not want to declare war. - personally the main villain gave me "Lich King from Warcraft" vibes. Down to sitting on a "Frozen Throne" and having the Black Trident to "corrupt" any wielder. Black Manta got Arthassed. - when the council appeared, their theory was that the surface was causing the warming. By the end it turned out the Atlanteans garbage and legacy was, what was causing the warming. That - and making sure freeing Orm did not fall on Atlantis - probably helped a lot. - as a friend of mine said about the mid-credit scene: Orm was missing the crunch.

8/10. I totally agree with you, and I flipping enjoyed the movie. One of my favorite parts was when he summoned whales and orcas in order to overload the supersonic cannon with their own high frequency sounds. Plus, what I enjoyed most in the movie was the reveal and history of the seventh kingdom and WHY was it lost with no records at all was finally explained here. A small mention of it from the previous movie that would later become the top premise of the movie was something I didn’t expected that I wanted, yet got it.

I don't think this has been suggested very often, but imagine if this guy went through the Persona games and talked about the different representations of all the mythological figures in them? Especially with Persona 3 Reload coming out soon it would be cool to see, but mythology isn't really the main focal point of it, so all you could do is talk about the main villains or the designs of all the personas based on mythological figures

I loved the movie. I saw it last night, and it was just a fun movie revolving around the importance of family and forgiveness (and what it unforgiving can do to you). I love how Arthur and Orm relationship in this movie is. I think it was a nice payoff to what Arthur said to Orm right before their first fight in the last movie. P.S. The substance used made me think of season 4 of Yu-gi-oh!. I almost want to think that someone who is a fan of the original work on this movie.

I think the worst part of the ovrrsaturation of super hero media (mainly MCU), is people have favorite comic books are built on campy nonsensical fun. Getting away from comics being fun is the major problem of 90s EDGE comics. I'm not excusing bad writing (especially with the MCU's major issue of lamp shading), but a superhero doesn't need to be peak fiction to be passable.

There is a healthy middle ground to be had between fun and a serious story that cares about a message. Indeed, I'd say one of the better Marvel heroes to showcase that is Iron Man. Fun explosions AND a serious look at not only the military industrial complex, but systemic societal issues that could be fixed with technology.

I don't quite understand why the DC movies insists on being so terrible. Why can't they just take a cue from the Marvel ones and be great movies. We could have had a whole DC version of the MCU. I love DC, Green Lantern is my favorite super hero of all of them, even above any of the Marvel ones. I want to have a sucessful DC Cinematic Universe with movies and TV Shows, especially for Green Lantern. Hopefully James Gunn can bring us what we want.

I remember hearing that xmen rise of the dark phoenix (whatever tf its called) was one of the worst marvel movies ever made... Went in with that mindset and honestly, I thought it was mid sure, but its better than thor 2/ant man 2 for me. Honestly the first aquaman wasnt even all that great, it and venom had similar problems with lackluster cheesy writing but really good effects and action. Just fine "shut your brain off/focus on the good dynamics and youll enjoy it". Overall as someone who hasnt seen it though, gotta give it a 0/10 for having *HER* in it.

Of Course at some Point they Find Different ways, But Ether Fail OR They Succeed But Badly and for short time. Then Darkseid's Ultimate Grand Finale HE Loses, But He Knows, What the Heroes went through. For Example: They Could Stop, when the Could, BUT Because He is a Treat that has to be Stopped, You know the Drill. And Darkseid Finally Dies with a Smile, For What Happend. Yes His Goal Still Ether to Rule or Destroy, But With his Moral Code. And Him as a Villain that you wanna stop, but at the same time you Need His power for Bigger Enemies. And I Hope, His Powers And Life wont be Terribly Written... We Have seen his Powers Through Different Animated Series, MK VS DC, Injustice 2, The Injustice Comics. Also His army, son and Legion that He Commands ... The Legion and The Son can be Bosses for Before His Ultimate Fall. And for Example, Some Villains of our Heroes Could be Dead During the Darkseid Saga (And maybe Brainiac Saga too). One of them as the Joker, Or Trigon or Deathstroke, or Others as Well. I think venom did well cause as awful as the writing was, the dynamic between eddie and venom was damn near perfect which is what a LOT of us wanted after spiderman 3 took a shit all over what venom should have been. It's why a lot of people that liked venom 1 hated the sequel, carnage was a pussy and was completely wasted, and they made eddie/venom have this really annoying breakup relationship which... Kinda did that in the first movie with his ex already so idk why they did that. Plus "I'm coming out of the eddie closet" had gotta be up there with "somehow palpatine returned" as one of the worst lines I've ever heard from a movie😅

I watch the movie yesterday, and I liked it too (honestly, buy your opnions about the percy jackson show, our tastes are similar). It's a nicemovie, nothing great, kinda like the first one, a fun sper hero adventure, nothing that special, but entertaining from start to end. Aquaman "needing" his brother was a dumb plot, but the two characters worked well together. Amber Heard being in the movie after everything is bad, and I have friends that refused to watch because of that, I don't like it either, but I don't care that much, It was just weird to see her character being at the same time one of the main characters and barely on the movie. Almost forgot, the "fight" with the final villain was really dumb. It would probably make a better movie if they made it more about atlantis politics and less about a random lich king that came from nowhere, but they went for dumb adventure and it's not a masterpiece but is entertaining.

As its own movie, I didn't see any glaring flaws, and I had a good time. Oh sure, if we judge it as the send off of a cinematic universe it's grossly lacking, but that's not what this movie was made to be. Judging it as a swansong is hardly fair. Though speaking of the rest of its cinematic universe, it's still one of the best in overall enjoyment and respect for the characters. For me at least.

He's always the butt of the joke, yet he's such a better character and far more useful, likeable, and powerful than many have been shown. I know New 52 is looked down upon, but that was probably my favorite Aquaman, just like the arc with Superman losing his powers prior to the former Superman (pre-52) coming back.
