I thought I spotted Athena in the god's palace. Turns out she is in the credits as "Minerva". Then I remembered Thena already exists in the Eternals as the source of Athena's legends. So I guess in the MCU they are seperate entities while our world treats them as basically the same goddess. I also looked for Khonshu and Taweret but no luck. Don't care what happens to Khonshu but if Gorr laid a finger on the pure Hippo goddess, I throw hands!
@weilanhowell5017
@weilanhowell5017 Жыл бұрын
They technically are two takes on the same entity so I’d expect it to be like there’s Zeus and then Jupiter is also zues but Minerva is dissimilar to Athena in the way that Athena is a war goddess so it would be bellona as an interpretation of that separate Athena. This would make Minerva a separate entity that the Greeks involved Athena with as both the wisdom goddess and battle strategy.

My assumption on the power granting part, seeing how he channeled it through Thunderbolt, Zeus's weapon, and that the power glowed Zeus yellow as it traveled instead of Thor blue, was that essentially, Thunderbolt is so filled with magical power that Thor was able to make it make a ridiculous number of copies of his power using its power, but Mjolnir and Stormbreaker aren't that kind of powerful, with the former being a conduit for one copy of his powers only, and Stormbreaker being a conduit of the Bifrost instead, but also being a fantastic method of channeling Thor's own power through it if he's nearby.

Haven't seen the movie (yet), but in case comic info got cut with the slain gods, in the comics basically the thing is if she'd *stay* Thor she'd have been fine, it's the transforming back and forth that was killing her, mostly because it purged her chemo so everytime she went back to Jane her cancer had a fresh start. And because she refused healing magic. It was one of the most frustrating parts of the comic, like, girl, just let him magic you! But also, who am I to judge, I've also gotten weird about what treatments I've allowed, and it's probably judt as frustrating for people who love me too. So you know what? If you feel that strong about it, I gotta respect your right to refuse treatment. It's just almost as hard to watch a fictional person decide to just tap out as it is to watch a real person do it. //sigh// I get it, I respect it, but it's hard.

I interpreted Thor's giving those kids the powers as being connected to "who is the Allfather now" kind of thing. Odin died in Ragnarok, and the end of the movie technically left Thor as the new king of Asgard, though the events of Infinity War and Endgame immediately happened and were kind of a lot. Valkyrie would not have received the powers upon becoming king of New Asgard since Odin still retained his powers during the Odinsleep "bUt wHy DidN't ThOr GifT eVeRyOne PoWerS dUriNg InFiniTy WaR aNd EnDgAme" there's a lot at play here. First, there was no manual for being the Allfather; Odin died rather quickly after waking and didn't really have time to instruct Thor about being the Allfather. Second, TRAUMA; Thor had about 5 minutes of peace as the new Allfather before being attacked by Thanos, seeing half his people die including Heimdal and Loki, which drove Thor into a DEEP depression in which he really tunnel-vision'd vengeance against Thanos.... the thing about tunnel-vision is that you tend to not think of anything outside of a rather narrow scope. And in Endgame he was so distraught by self loathing he didn't even consider himself worthy of Mjolnir, let alone the powers of the Allfather So yeah, I don't think it creates a continuity problem. Life is complicated, sometimes the easy answers just... DON'T present themselves

when Thor was doing the power duplication, he was holding the Lightningbolts which grants him the similar power of Zeus. When the kids got the power, they were glowing in yellow => indicating the power was from Zeus, not Thor. I remembered there was a KZbin clip talking about Marvel's splendid uses of color to indicate the power's source and attribute, like red for chaos, blue for space, purple for power or mana

Yeah. Alot of people interpret it as Thor not having the ability yet. Thor 1, he behaves like a spoilt brat and cant seem to use his powers without his hammer. Infinity War hes a bit more mature, experienced and is on a mission.

I thought it was very on point just for the fact that Thor is still dealing with PTSD and the Universe seems to continue to kick at him while he is down. In order, his Father took away his powers and called him unworthy. He died, got his powers back and came back to life. Lost his brother, found and fought against his brother. Jane is infected by the infinity stone, His mother dies, Loki "dies" again. He finds out his brother is alive, confronts him, finds out he has a sister who is evil, his father dies, and Hella breaks his hammer. Then he fights Hulk and the quinjet doesn't recognize him as the strongest avenger, but Banner/Hulk is. Then he loses an eye, and almost dies against Hella, loses his homeworld to beat/kill Hella. Thanos kills alot of the asgardians, kills Loki, and Thor gets slapped about. After sending Thor away via bifrost, Heimdall, (Thor's half brother) is killed by Thanos. After that Thor gets brought to the brink of death yet again to make Stormbreaker, and even though he almost Saves the Day, Thanos taunts him and still is able to make the snap and erase half the Universal population. From there, Thor is disheartened by what he perceives to be his failures. Confronts Thanos only to find out the Infinity Stones have been destroyed, meaning he has no way to correct his perceived mistake and kills Thanos out of vengeance. His friends mock his state of mind, then he gets told he can't undo the snap because of his state of mind. Thanos almost manages to run Stormbreaker through his rib cage, the team loses Tony when he makes the snap to get rid of Thanos and his crew. Then the mortal Peter Quill tells him that he doesn't get to be in charge of the Guardians of the Galaxy. After all that, Thor: love and thunder.. So yeah, I think Thor has got be hurting emotionally, even if he doesn't show it. Anyone would be, especially with the death of all of their loved ones. Hopefully in the next Marvel movie we'll start to see things start to go better with Thor. Definitely agree that they needed to show more of the god butcher God butchering though..

I think they did a very good job keeping Gorr's origin as close as possible to the comics without using Sony's rights over Knull and the Necrosword.

My theory was Thor was just using a mix of a illusion power he learned from his mom (and loki regularly use) and his own powers to make it look like the kids had power as a distraction

I would understand Thor being able to give the kids powers should just be chalked up to Thor understanding his role better as somewhat “the All-Father”

The comic of Gorr the Godbutcher did have that. The surviving gods put their lives on the line to allow Thor (all three of them) to do what they had to do to beat him this includes Thor's granddaughters.

for anybodies info Uke Mochi or Ukemochi (保食神, meaning "Goddess who Possesses food" or "Goddess who Protects/Preserves food") is a Japanese goddess of food written about in the Nihon Shoki and the Kojiki, and is worshipped in the outer portion of Amaterasu's shrine, the Ise Shrine.

Spoiler They did set up Gorr dying though. In the shadow realm during the conversation with Jane. The sword gave him powers but it consumed him, like Mjolnir took all energy from Jane when she used it. Also visually you saw him deteriorating during the movie.

Also the first person to reach Eternity gets the wish so only one person EVER can make a wish. They set up Gor dying when they realized he had the Necro swoed, Thir said it kills the user in exchange for giving them the power to jill Gods. It was in the scene with jane,Thor and King Valkyrie were making a plan. That little girl is also Chris Hemsworth's actual daughter.

19:08, that is not why Stormbreaker won't let Thor /tp to the Shadow Realm. The Bifrost only lets Thor travel between the 9 realms, the Shadow Realm is not one of them. That's why.

Gorr was not bad in the cinemas but it was not the same guy as the comics. The God´s Butcher arc in the comics was way better, he had lots of other motivations than his daughter, everything that could go wrong for the guy went wrong, the whole god bomb was also something that makes much more sense than eternity, the movie fucking butchered a very important entity for the marvel verse. It was also a mistake this movie not taking itself seriously at heavier scenes. The battle for asgard where most asgardian warriors died and the kids where kidnapped was not the moment for ex-Hammer love triangle or jokes...
