Not to criticize galu but in how you mentioned your fighting a hard war against the dwarves, you are sending your army of elites which most are armor piercing against Bree while fighting the dwarves with primarily trash. The tide could perhaps changes if the armies (though probably not commanders) switched

I probably would have done the same thing he is doing. If he destroys Bree, there will no longer be any threat from the south allowing him to focus all of his strength on the dwarves. If he sent the elites to the dwarves, it would have just continued the slog-fest as they wouldn't have done as well. and the war would continue on the south and the west. As of now, the trash he is sent at the dwarves seems to be doing fine at holding the line.

@@andthusitis3178 I respect your opinion and that is a sound strategy though I personally would take that elite army and smash it in a constant wave of offense into the dwarves and then kill then. Yes Bree is a threat in the south but by taking the industry and wealth of the dwarves and then use it against the south. Also by taking central eriador, you gain allot of castles that can by used against the south to pump out troops. Especially now that dunland is involved Bree will be less focused on angmar

You guys are talking about a strategy to win while I am not seeing a way to break the constant slog against the Dwarves and Bree. One episode he takes two settlements and the next he loses two. I think it is too late game to be able to break the late game Dwarves, and the hordes of Bree. The only two outcomes I can see are either him losing, or being stuck in this back and forth slog forever. Not to say I am not enjoying this series though, I am thoroughly enjoying it.

The input of Dunland will now change the campaign for good. Bree cannot hold two enemies back at once and will likely fall to Dunland before I can do any real damage.

Bree went to war with Dunland at the start of turn 142, probably by retaking Hobbiton which you sold to Dunland last episode. You skipped over a Diplomatic Information message at 9:58 and end the turn before viewing it.

The thing about towers I find annoying is not their strength, but the fact that you cannot capture them as the attacker.

I love the stronger towers. I have really paid no attention to them because I know they will never do anything to my siege equipment. But additionally... siege towers are really not all that useful in the game (IMO). I have ALWAYS just brought a couple catapults with me. Because catapults are soooo good, I don't bother with any other siege equipment so the towers don't affect my gameplay all that much.

That is the generals bodyguard unit it is intentional. It says it in the unit description.

Galu, im not disliking change. and towers definitely do win battles for you. They also lose them for you when you attack them. Remember, 1300 tower kills last episode. Don't tell me that's not winning battles for you.

you're awesome, and i love your content. but I'm not coming here as a newbie. I've been playing the earlier total war games a long time now, and can tell when something is overpowered, and, by extension, when something has been neutered. I'm not making suggestions just on a whim. I do my research, do my own testing, and respond accordingly. As a result, I would appreciate not being simply dismissed as "not liking change" please.

Oh, and it wasn't because the Mumakil bugged out. It's because the towers are overpowered. I've seen full top tier units obliterated on the walls fighting goblin trash. that is unacceptable. And In regards to boiling oil, people don't " Moan" about boiling oil because its historically accurate, to be clear.

I would welcome your test reports and evidence. For assistance, our aim with towers was to make sieges matter. I will view anything you have to show for and against that point.

I honestly have to second the towers point, i have to include siege in attacking cities now, if thats the point, thats the point. But i had 7 siege towers and 3 rams, and all got sniped before getting halfway to the walls, perhaps reducing the accuracy or ROF for towers just a bit?

That is exactly the point. It is to make sieges harder and give them more weight. Also, I would point out the powerful towers only kick in when a city reaches 'Large City' size. These towers are only marginally better for wooden walled towns and those make up the majority of towns in the early game. It will take a lot to convince me the change is a bad idea.

I very often feel like your being not so good to say the least at the game influences your modding decisions poorly because you clearly aren't familiar with the specific capabilities of units and how they can affect the gameplay, for example the balance of the archer towers, the badly balanced (of course imo; for however much that's worth to anyone) cavalry and especially the cavalry bodyguards and how they affect the gameplay (As you yourself have stated you're terrible with cavalry and therefore you fail to see their true potential), I could go on but I just thought that if you read this comment it will give you something to think about when addressing the criticism of the mod. Now I could see how it may look very petty for me (An internet lowlife) to "complain" to the lead developer of one of the best mods for a game of all time like this but in truth I really enjoy your mod and my criticism is meant in good will

lol that's the price of entertainment. Thankfully the mod is easily changed to suit your needs. Regarding the general as a cav im quite happy that they are on foot since most of the time they are the first ones to die. Plus in siege battles one might think its better to bring siege equipments with the addons on rams, towers

To be fair the base game medieval 2 cavalry was a much more 'broken' because every single general had a giant cavalry bodyguard that would just shred anything. I feel as though they have already buffed cavalry substantially compared to how they are in vanilla med 2. There are very few cavalry bodyguards left in the game and they are not large units either, and are basically limited to nations/cultures that it makes perfect sense to have a cavalry bodyguard over an infantry bodyguard. They are still incredibly overpowered, just not as much as they are in the base game imo

My being an average player doesn't mean I cant see the potential of units. Plus, in the case of towers, if I am poor at the game and still manage to claim cities then I think it supports my point that they are not OP.

@@bamblaster5865 I wasn't talking about the ones that are on foot, but the ones that are not (Rohan, Harad, Dol Amroth); they certainly break the balance, generals on foot were a great idea

@@lally168 My problem is that when you get into melee with elite cavalry, they just don't die, for example in my latest Isengard campaign my force of PIKEMEN and SPEARS were charged by 3 rohan bodyguards ,stayed in melee for almost a minute and all of them survived, cavalry is meant to have a good charge but also be fragile, this makes no sense. Also if you have just one cavalry general you can win battles with such bad odds and with such small losses, the AI can't respond well at all to good cavalry and you can literally annihilate their entire army with a single unit. In my opinion cavalry needs a big nerf to stats, I think that the "big numbers and weaker" approach of the base game was better, because there's more risk in using your cavalry so recklessly, they can very easily then die to arrows, crossbows and if you don't pull them out you're in trouble, but a unit of say 25 cavalry bodyguard just isn't affected by missiles at all, you can do whatever you want with them.

Why not get rid of khan and mix them with rhun and harad as mercs and special units and make a red dwarf faction or a faction ruled by the blue wizards which can go bad or good or the red dwarfs can be good or bad.

@@karrackhalcyon8826 at this point...fawk it...we can fill in the gaps and be creative ourselves...not deviate too much...we know there is a red dwarf faction in the east and the blue wizards were unfinished...if khan is moved around it can open up some new replability
