I am Japanese I will explain the video for foreign Jojo fans. This is the program when the author Hirohiko Araki gave a special lecture to Japanese high school students. I will translate the contents into English from now on. 3:00~ Araki: What do you think is necessary for manga? Students: Characters, worldviews, themes, stories Araki: In the case of Jojo, I think about the story after making the character and the world view. In today's lecture, let's create a character by anthropomorphizing Japanese road signs. 4:12 Narration: Jojo's theme is human hymns. What does that mean? Interviewer: What is Human Hymn? Araki: Rather than talking about the hero's tools or being suddenly saved by God, he uses his wisdom and courage to overcome difficulties. I want to express that human beings are wonderful. Inspired by Renaissance culture. Writing humans is the most interesting. Interviewer: What if you give a personality to something that is not human? Araki: I think I can make a story. I always give my characters a positive reason to act. The person reading it seems to be energized. I want to make such a work. 5:35~ Araki: I always check various items when I make a character. This is to eliminate the unnaturalness that a character who is not good at exercise suddenly becomes able to exercise. I made a character with a stop sign for trial. He says Toby. You play tricks to stop people and do graffiti on people with special calligraphy. But the most important is the weakness. He had the experience of being drowned and laughed at when he was a child. His weakness is drowning in water. It is important in manga to think as if the character really exists like this. 7:35~ Cartoon with fashion I'm explaining the collaboration between GUCCI and Jojo

I didn't understand anything since I obviously don't speak the language but I still watched through the entire video unskipped even in the just speaking parts, simply because the way Mr. Araki is explaining, and the tones and gestures he's using, and in the same way the student was receiving and perceiving it, her expressions and everything was very interesting to see. It felt like I was truly feeling the conversation flow even without understanding a word for which I didn't skip those parts. And, its Mr. Araki speaking, how can I be so daring to blatantly pull a King Crimson on the legend himself?

Only Araki could teach you how to make a character even if inspired by traffic signs. But rather than only drawing if I am not wrong since my Japanese is so basic nor I'm an English native and I skipped part, for now, Araki is teaching about manga itself. That's why he asked about what's in the manga, and the student answered such as ZA WARUDO, characters, message, and so on. And Araki started from how even traffic signs could be an inspiration for characters (part of ZA WARUDO building) and the student should make a character based on those traffic signs. Araki's character is Tobi based on the stop sign (and he said about many things as it should be when you make a character and later the students made it--those form is character design form (like/dislike/family/so on)
