Worked perfectly! We skipped the lemon zest (I just don't like lemon flavor in pastries) and it worked beautifully. This is my all time favorite dessert and I haven't had it in years. The Hungarian cookbook I own is very minimal on instructions so this was super helpful. Thank you. I can't wait to try out your other recipes.

Wonderful to hear! Glad that the recipe was able to fulfill your craving, and tasted just as good without the lemon zest.

Thank you! It is wonderful to see a video of this more obscure Hungarian delight. From what I understand from my family and some recipes it is also made with some jam. Would that good drizzled over the cake or does it go inside the individual balls? I want to attempt this this weekend as I am having a dinner party for the Hungarian language students that I am currently studying with.

Thank you, I really appreciate you taking the time to comment on my video! Yes, some families make the "dumplings" with jam. If you want to fill the dumplings then make sure you buy real jam rather than fruit spread or preserves. I have found that fruit spread spills out from the pastries and can become quite messy. I typically use Stonewall jams (amzn.to/3FNpSu2) due to its texture and flavor because it most closely resembles what I can find in Hungary. Good luck experimenting with the different fillings and I bet your Hungarian students will love all of the variations!
