FYI, there should be a thin metal shim/spacer between the front plate and the press. This keeps the bolts from pressing directly on the moving press and scaring it.

Many models do not have this feature. In fact I have only seen it on harbor freight 1 ton models. I have seen a post were someone did machine the cover plate so he could instal a piece. I think he used a piece of brass but dont hold me to that.

Thank you for your comment, you’re welcome! I don’t know if it works with other cold bluing liquids, but it works with mine. On zinc it would’ve become deep black so I was able to tell that it’s not zinc but nickel by comparison

Gorgeous work, sir! Were you able to save the chemicals to remove the Chromium coating (that turned out to not be chrome)? I cannot imagine it to be a cheap chemical to replace. The end product is beautiful! Always wondered why they called it an "arbor press". Arbor is a word closely associated with trees and woodwork.

Yes, but it was not chrome as I showed in the video and explained in the description, I just thought that it is chrome. And nickel is relatively consistent towards HCl, so it wouldn’t have done much.

That black paint finish, being 'flat' showed up so many flaws in the metal finish that, for me, totally spoiled the final outcome. Had you used a hammer finish this would have hidden the dings, dents and flaws and better shown off your hours and hours of prep.
