Hey guys, just wanted to say this is an amazing jack. I use to work for CAA ( it's a Canadian version of triple AAA ) and I used this specific 3 ton jack 5 days a week, I've had it for 2 years working for CAA. I've lifted Sedans, Vans, and pickup trucks with this jack, well over 5000+ vehicles over the course of 2 years. I still use this jack to this day and it's still working perfectly.

Good video. Regardless of what the manual says about bleeding any air that might be in the system, I would recommend a slightly different method. First look inside the package to see if any oil leaked out from the hydraulic cylinder during shipping. It is unlikely but with the jack bouncing around during shipping, by sea and by land from Asia to your location, for days, or weeks, vibrations may have caused the fill hole or bleed hole to open a bit, and allow air in. Even if there is no oil that leaked, I would still check the oil level. Just open the oil fill hole. If you don't see oil up to about 1/4 inch from the bottom of the hole, open the air bleed hole (there is likely to be a bleed hole, to allow air to escape as you replace it with oil) and put oil into the fill hole, until the oil reaches up to the 1/4 inch point. Then close both holes. Don't tighten excessively - you'll damage the tiny o-ring seal at the bottom, if there is one. To bleed: turn the handle counter clockwise as described in the video - this opens the release valve. Put your foot on the saddle to keep it from rising. Pump the handle as described in the video. Now here is the difference: tighten the release valve, and loosen the fill hole screw slightly (or cap or plug), just enough to allow any air inside the cylinder to escape through the fill hole (as opposed to through the open release valve). Listen carefully for air. If you hear any, that means that the bleed procedure you just performed - it did some good; it moved air bubbles from within the oil, to outside and above the oil. Tighten the fill hole screw, open the release valve, and repeat the pumping procedure. Do this until you no longer hear air when you loosen the fill hole screw again. If you heard little or no air, you are done. If you heard lots and lots of air, you may need to add a little more oil - because without that air, there is more room for oil! So go back to the oil filling procedure, and then go thru the bleed procedure one more time.

I got the husky version of this on sale back during the holidays last year for $130, it's a great jack and since I keep it in the back of my jeep I really appreciate the weight savings over an all steel jack. Its still got some heft to it though for sure. The Husky is definitely made by arcan (or whoever makes the arcan) because they look identical minus branding and color. These definitely shouldn't be overlooked if your in the market for a jack, not a lot of videos on them though.
@kovie9162 Жыл бұрын
Looking at this and comparing it to the Husky 3 Ton aluminum/steel hybrid jack I just picked up that's currently on sale for $160 at Home Depot, it looks like exactly the same jack in terms of appearance and specs, the only difference being the paint scheme and labels. I'm certain that it's the exact same jack. I won't provide a link as YT tends to frown on those, but it's easy enough to find based on the info I've provided. I've only used it a couple of times as I only got it a few days ago, but it's worked great so far lifting my 1.5 ton car. Heavy, sure, but not so much that most people won't be able to lift if when they need to. Feels really sturdy too, and if it ever leaks I'm sure that I can repair it as the parts should be pretty easy to find. Definitely recommended no matter whose label is on it, but the Husky one is a steal.

Thanks for the great review as with other products! I find the handle a bit slippery to turn left/right (for lowering/raising, respectively) especially in the winter, so I sleeved a foot long old bicycle inner tube over the top section of the handle for better friction/handling... It is indeed a nice looking and working jack. Be Safe.

Good review. I just ordered this jack from Costco's website a few minutes ago (4-11-18). I was able to buy it for $99 + $4.99 shipping/handling + $7.61 tax, total = $112.59. That's a good deal. I was considering buying Arcan's all aluminum 3-ton jack (model# ALJ3T) but it only weighs 2 pounds less than this one & it goes for $254 or so. I think I can deal with 2 extra pounds for less than 1/2 the price of the all aluminum version (though I think the all aluminum has a slightly lower minimum height but it isn't much).

My experience with this jack has not been that good. I bought one of these at costco in thornton colorado in august 2017. Didn't get around to using it until May 2018 and was just barely able to lift front of car enough to put jackstands under it. Later, when I tried to lift it to remove jack stands it wouldn't lift the car. With no load each stroke of the handle would raise the lifting arm a few inches, then it would fall most of the way back down. It just kind of bounced when pumping it. Under load it wouldn't lift at all. I tried the air bleeding method described in the manual about 10 times. No help. I called the support # in the user manual and described the problem. They sent me a replacement hydraulic power unit assembly (part RSHJ30026). It was kind of pain to replace, but after doing that the jack 'appears' to work okay. I haven't used it under load yet, but I think it will work.

One quick question: from side view (6:00 - 6:20), the jack is NOT raising up in a straight line. Imaging the car is being jacked up, won't this cause the car to move? For example if the car is being jacked up on the side, then the jack is 'pulling' the car while jacking up, isn't it?
@dial2fast7 жыл бұрын
Yes, when jacking up the car, the jack itself will move forward and back with its wheels. This is same for all jacks, and they don't stay in one spot when you use it.

Can you please do a video on how to correctly & safely use jack stands on a vehicle, preferably how to do 4 jack stands.
@azaz911c4 жыл бұрын
I have researched extensively lifting a car on to 4 jack stands. It can be done, but ultimately I concluded that it should not be done by the home mechanic because of the instability during the lifting and lowering process. The risk of problems may be quite low, but the potential consequences (death, personal injury, or serious damage to the vehicle) are too severe. Everyone will have their own risk tolerance, but my personal view is not to do it.

Can anybody explain why the jack can be raised in 7 pumps with no load but needs almost 14 pumps when loaded? Since this is a strictly mechanical advantage device and the ratio of the piston pump diameter determines the lift per pump, why does it change with the load? Is there pressure leakage under load?
@chrispypsp8 жыл бұрын
12vgs8606 you might just have to bleed the air out of the system or it could be low on fluid. And are the pumps, when under load, full swing pumps or short swing.
@jptrainor7 жыл бұрын
There is a high volume pump that has a low pressure bypass - that does most of the work until the load comes on. Once the load comes on the fluid pressure increases and the high-volume pump bypass opens each time you pump thus rendering it ineffective. That leaves only the low-volume / high pressure pump working to lift the load, hence more pumps to finish the loaded lift. Essentially there are two different mechanical advantages configured based on the volume of each pump piston and the bypass valve settings.
@josephmartin23627 жыл бұрын
Simple, the pump is a 2-stage pump. Low pressure/high volume till load contact, then high pressure/low volume to lift the load.
