Considering how every detail is deliberate in this show. The fact that the council chamber isn't wheelchair accessible speaks volumes with each clank as those wheels descended.

Yeah very much. The way we get a closeup of the wheels while Salo is emphasizing that the people from Zaun are "creatures"... Man. Also Victor is crippled too and from the undercity so it's absolutely no surprise that that's viewed as lesser. What I like most abt that the is the fact that Heimerdinger never realized any of this. Neither did he realize just how bad the class divide had become. It's a nice added layer bc he's got a good heart but due to his age he's really removed from reality and allowed all this to happen on his watch

I join you in your speculation about Mel surviving and keeping it on the down-low. Her Solari themed items (ring for example) and what we saw shining at the end of S01 makes me think she has the LoL item Locket of the Iron Solari, which has an active to create a protective shield around yourself and nearby allies. That would fit so perfectly with her and Jayce who was pretty much next to her, coming out without a scratch.

one thing i really like about Arcane is that while the fights /are/ cool, the show doesn't find glory in them - the fighting is ugly and brutal and has lasting consequences; even Cait's team at the end of this episode with their Hextech gear is portrayed in a foreboding light because Hextech weapons were something Viktor and Jayce never wanted for their tech. And they're exactly what Ambessa Medarda wants for her conflict back in Noxus

just from this episode it really seems like the cycle of revenge and the chain of harm is gonna be a big theme here - like, Renni targeting Jayce throughout the attack is because he killed her son back in season 1 (which itself was because Jayce wanted revenge on Silco); Cait's going for Jinx because she killed her mother and that's going to lead to more people getting hurt.

When Jayce helped Mel up I was so certain we'd see that she got impaled by something, I'm glad that wasn't the case but holy shit. It must be great to watch this show without knowing the game because when you do know it, you kinda know who dies and who doesn't. Unless they change that, which would be great.

With the way Season 1 endet, Mel has propably some sort of Magical Protection, which she hides because Magic = Bad, which is why she and Jayce, the person she hugged, came of basically unharmed. You can also see that shimmer when the guy with the weapon approaches her. Same deal, infront of People she doesn't use it because Piltover hates Magic.

I think it has to do with the gold plates Mel wears on her skin even while sleeping. Especially now that we know her mother is or was a Solari at one point.

I was kinda surprised by who survived Jinx's rocket attack, I was confident Jayce and Viktor would make it, cos Riot wouldn't be able to sell skins for dead Champions. And that all the others would die as the rocket looked it would take the top of the building off. I assumed because those two were sat so close to each other, that Viktor's Hex-modified body would project a protective bubble around him and Jayce, like Vi's Gauntlets and everyone else would die. What I guess actually happened was the rocket didn't detonate on impact with the window but passed through and flew overhead of Mel and struck the back of the council chamber and it was falling debris that killed the three council members.

Ambessa isn’t a stand in for Darius she’s just a warlord from Noxus. Same with Loris who is his own character. This isn’t an alternate universe. These characters are meant to exist alongside champions in the universe. They aren’t meant to be versions of other characters
