The way Cait leans forward a little to get one last glance of her mom before the casket closes breaks my heart. Also just that shot of her in the intro with the crowned shadow behind her…. Heavy is the crown, be careful what you ask for. That shot of Mel after Cait reveals her strike force is so good. She looks absolutely terrified, like she can see every bad thing that’s about to happen and she can’t stop it.

That intro sequence actually depicts imagery from a lot of famous tragedies. The one with Cait and the crown is from Macbeth, Jinx waving the flag is from Les Mis, Viktor with the mask is The Phantom of the opera, and Ambessa on the chaise lounge is Julius Caesar.

Christian Linke (Showrunner) was just on the channel of Necrit (#1 Runeterra-Lore-Nerd) and while he couldn't give any specifics, they are a) definitely making more shows and b) looking at several story options on where to continue, so there will be more stories for sure, it will however most likely take a while again :/

This is such a beautiful series, and this episode hits particularly hard. One thing that was recently revealed is that, with the exception of Cait and her mother, the entire funeral scene was hand drawn in charcoal rather than rendered digitally. it's such a powerful contrast, paired with an impeccable score.

The purple stuff is shimmer, created by Singed and produced and distributed by Silco. The green stuff is other chemtech (the general umbrella term for Zaunite chemicals and technology utilizing them), created by other Chem-Barons. The woman who attacked Jayce, Renni, is using her own (frankly inferior) stuff, probably partly out of professional pride, and partly because (I'd guess) shimmer production has been halted because of Silcos death and the supply is dwindling.

Okay, small things I appreciate about this episode: Pure dread in Jayce's eyes when he thinks Viktor is dead. (I love their friendship so much.) Cait being able to cry and let out her grief only when she's alone with Vi. How Jayce puts his head on Mel's knees seeking for comfort. (He does the same thing in Season 1.) Vi and Jayce teaming up to make the hammer work.

When you watched the first season your reactions and insight were amazing. You noticed all kinds of small details others had missed. Now I know you are busy with all kind of other content nowadays, but a rewatch of the first season, would have made a few things more understandable, and more faces recognizable.

The purple thing is shimmer, the drug created by Singed that basically can turn people into monsters but also has other uses, like for example as a medicine in small doses. It's what was used to heal Vi after she was stabbed in season 1, and Jinx after she blew herself up but in her case she was given a massive dose of shimmer that changed her permanently which is why she now has pink eyes. The green stuff is a chemical compound that works as fuel for technology developed in Zaun, like the chainsaw in this episode.

The animation this season is insane. The attention to detail is beyond all reason. In a later episode there's a scene where a girl looks at someone she adores and you can see her pupils dilate when she makes eye contact. The animation studio, Fortiche, is bonkers.

Love your reactions! About the green liquid used in the undercity, is not stated in the series but in the games its a big part of their aesthetic, to contrast Piltover's hextech. Its usually called "Chemtech", it creates chemical reactions or power up things, kinda like converting chemical waste into energy.

The fact that Cait tried so much to retain a strong image while she was torn inside is a very well written approach. She has to face her loss, take responsibility for her family iheritage and manage her relationship with Vi. All this emotional oppression is enough to drive a luxuriously raised child towards feelings of revenge and cruelty. Very well written, the team nailed it at Act 1! Cait's story very well supported!

So to clarify cause its not super explained, theres shimmer the purple drug Singed made, theres hextech jayce and viktor made and theres CHEMtech which is what people in zaun use in their technology, its not addictive like shimmer and not as potent but it is still volatile and dangerous, much like zaun itself

A lot of people are like "how did Ambessa's soldiers killed those things with spears if Caitlyn's bullets weren't even scratching it?" Noxus (where Ambessa comes from) is a warrior nation. They value strength above all else, to the point where they don't give a damn if you kill other Noxians as long as you do it in combat, as they'd consider that honorable. So even their footsoldiers are absolute beasts, almost superhuman, because you have to be in order to survive and thrive in Noxus. Of course not all of Noxus is warriors and brutes and there's plenty of spycraft but that's a whole other story.

I really don't know how babygirls gonna make it through this entire season if this is how she's falling apart on episode one.. this is one of if not THE best western animations I've EVER seen, but they make you go THROUGH it, they make you earn every ounce of joy you get from it and they never flinch or compromise on character and story
