I once found an artifact that had gone missing in ancient times. I battled a giant spider.. well, a baby giant spider. Basically regular size, but you can just tell it would grow to be a giant. Escaped multiple traps, falling objects. And when I opened a mysterious trunk, there it was, my old branch saw. I really should clean my garage, haven't seen that thing in years.

@@BeAmazed you're kind of harsh on the Crystal Skulls. There were a number of them around. Some are hoaxes but few question and baffled the scientific community. This few crystal skulls were put into extreme scientific test. The result only produced a lot of enigma. For one, this crystal skulls that were tested does stated that it was sculpted by some unknown method and estimated to be around in the Mayan period.

Amber has had mystical beliefs around it for millennia. A seeming “stone”, though actually fossilized tree sap, it can be carved by hand and polished easily (I was a stone cutter for 30 years). It also has a unique and beautiful scent, which is released by heating or burning the amber. It was believed to offer protection or health benefits when carved into specific forms, or when the scent was inhaled.

Vikings raided Muslim-held Spain and the Mediterranean coast cities. During the bronze age, tin was mined in the British Isles and sold in the Middle East. There was a long time of contact between the Norse culture and the Arab culture. Vikings held Muslim slaves as well as others from different cultures. So, finding Arab trinkets is not a surprise.

A couple of points I'd like to make, one is a fact and one is really more of a theory. The first point is that, it is possible that the Earth being a sphere may not have been common knowledge in Europe if education was sub-par, but the Earth has been known by humanity to be spherical since the BCs. An ancient mathmatician named Eratosthenes used geometry to calculate the size and shape of the Earth with a surprisingly high level of accuracy before the year 0. My second thought, my theory, is that the ancient viking coin found in Maine likely was left there by vikings. Because, why would a later European bring a viking coin to the Americas? While there were no viking artifacts found near the coin, were there any later European artifacts found around it either? Since we know that vikings were exploring areas within a few hundred miles of the location where the coin was found, it is fairly likely that vikings had explored that area, and possibly didn't stay for long. Perhaps they dropped the coin as they were passing through? Maybe there is a site not far from there where there are viking artifacts still waiting to be discovered

The creature in the first topic, i think it is not to represent a real life animal, but an animal from mythology, and why am i saying that. Because right next to the creature it writes in greek ΚΡΟΚΟΔΙΛΟΠΑΡΔΑΛΙς [krokodilopArdalis], wich is a combined world, from the greek words κροκόδειλος (crocodile), and λεοπάρδαλη ( leopard ). So if you know any mythological creature that is half crocodile and half leopard tell me, because i don't know.

Judging from the recreation, it looks like they placed the earth in the center and depicted it as sphere. The latter bit is no surprise, as ancient Greek philosophers no only knew of the planet's spherical nature, but also calculated its size with a fairly accurate result.
@Princess_Feona
@Princess_Feona Ай бұрын
@Merrsharr Not fairly, but extremely accurate. Eratosthenes calculated the planets circumference to within 1% over 2000 years ago using a stick in the ground. That’s why I shrug off the ideas of aliens building the pyramids and the like. We didn’t need them. Humans can be smart.

As someone who went to school in Sweden, we were taught early on about the Viking Age and pretty much everything in this video pertaining to the vikings is more or less “old news” 🤔 This is coming from someone who is 32 and it’s around 20 years ago it was taught to me. Vikings visited (and lived) in North America before Columbus “discovered” the land? Nothing new. Vikings in the Mediterranean areas and the Middle East? Old news. Etc. But I do realise that learning about the Viking Age in school isn’t exactly common for people outside of the Nordics! Still very much fun to have these old memories rushing back whilst watching this video!

It's actually been known the earth was round for a couple thousand years. The ancient Greeks not only learned the earth was round but even calculated it's approximate size (even if Greek philosophers didn't like the idea). The idea people dismissed Columbus because they thought the earth was flat is a longstanding myth: the real reason was they knew roughly how big it was and knew reaching the east by sailing west would take longer than sailing around Africa.

That painting that shows the sea monster is altered. Notice the different color head? If u remove it you can see the body was originally just part ot the land!
