giving to the poor in and of itself isn't love per se: "And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing." Therefore charity is more than the act and should involve love. But LOVE must include truth for GOD IS LOVE and as Jesus said I AM the TRUTH the Wat the Life and Jesus is full of Grace and Truth. My children when they are young come to me looking for love most when they are injured and when they are disciplined. Then when they get older, they get to pound and stubborn to receive correction.

I think some people think only GOODNESS comes out of the heart because they think only good things come out of THEIR hearts. Therefore, they look to the heart looking for God because they believe their own heart to be the source of all truth and goodness. While those who disagree have wicked corrupt hearts. I was recently told (with real little conversation on the matter) that this bothering me is because I lack compassion and mercy. While I think the inverse is true. If I didn't care I would just go off and live the good life ignoring all these problems around me saying not my problem.

Pope Francis' Pontificate is, sadly, worldly based. The Pope's focus should be the salvation of souls, and to stop creating confusion and division. Whether this is deliberate on the Pope's behalf, only he can answer. I pray for him, but this is as far as I go. I am also concerned with his smoke and mirrors that surround the pope. More, more shepherds must speak up!

Have any of you posting here studied inorganic and organic chemistry as did Pope Francis and Colin Clark or international both process economics and non-economic progress as did Colin Clark? Clark was then simultaneously employed in 1964 to apply his conclusion by Pope St Paul V1's Commision on Population and the UNO Food and Agriculture Organisation with in consequence "inseparable ... union and procreation" in marriage stated in this Pope's Encyclical Letter, "Of Human Life", Humanae Vitae, 1968, 12. Yes, he seems like a good and honest man, but I do feel the excessive use of diplomacy and meekness detracts from the utterances of good prelates. Abp Vigano is at the other end of the scale which isn’t always helpful either, but the question remains unanswered are Chaput is concerned - I.e. are Francis and Ferdinand heretics or not? If the answer is yes, then immediate, corrective action is urgently required and I expect we all know what that is. So it remains for all good Catholic Cardinals to communist with each other and bring this intolerable situation the an abrupt end. God bless to all

I think deep down Francis is no better able to navigate the problems in the Church than Benedict could, only he is so different. Francis is more a product of his environment but cannot articulate what he means, wants, or intends of all the changes that all fly in the Face of God’s Will; it’s obvious, and Jesus said He is the same :Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow! His Church did not need Change! God’s revelation came as we could accept it, in His Time through the Holy Spirit. If this is all the Clergy can do but change EVERYTHING we are doomed!!! Maybe the St.Gallan group did get him in and hoped they could manipulate or feed on his own desires to their ends. He’s relying on people he believes he can trust because they are mostly south American’s or something, but it’s just working forwards more confusion and scandal and disunity. I wonder if his heart is breaking, I know mine is. Whatever the cause all we can be is aware and pray for him, pray for Francis, he is the Pope and I hope God finds a way out of all this for the worlds sake.

@@soniavadnjal7553 'Departing from Church teaching' - this is the crucial point. Who is departing from Church teaching, and what exactly does the Church teach in those contested areas? My default answer would be that the Pope has the final say in those matters. He is the direct successor to St Peter, installed by Christ Himself. Of course, the Pope can make mistakes. Some people insist that we need to celebrate mass like the first Christians did, and that we need to believe like those first Christians believed. But our knowledge about the world has changed over the last few centuries. Think back about the Galileo affair, people's views about witches and people being possessed, the crusades etc. Our views about homosexuality, our understanding of the workings of the human brain, and of our interconnectedness with all living things has changed, thanks to discoveries in biology and genetics. A very complex field! And I would leave it to the pope to make decisions about changes and adjustments necessary to keep the Catholic faith relevant in these fast changing times. @@MN-nr8bq Faith AND reason - agreed. Unquestioned obedience leads to a cult - agreed. Criticizing and questioning the Pope's decisions - yes, we can and should do that. But in the end, he is the Head of the Church.
