I’m Irish American and have been very sad for Ireland. No matter how few followers, I hope a band of faithful will return to Christ and pray to Our Lady for intercession. The Devil goes after the most vulnerable and that which is most sacred. The Devil continues to go after the Church and those who love Holy Mother Church. It is time for Ireland to go back to its roots. Go back to the Church to worship Christ. It’s not about the priests or nuns, or the horrible history. It’s about Christ. Say the Rosary. Ireland will come back to her senses with the Holy Spirit’s help and some willing faithful who say “yes.”

😔 🙏 Forty years ago I listened to radio program called “focus on the family” … At that time the host was Dr James Dobson, and several times I heard him discuss this issue with guests and they all warned there were people in high places already arguing, way back then, for why we should embrace government assisted dying, the arguments suggested assisted dying would be normalized and eventually it would be expected of those who were no longer contributing to society, with their work and their taxes … how eventually the retired elderly who need help with day to day tasks, and the disabled would feel pressure to kill themselves … Dr Dobson warned of the indicators, including the decline in the number of people practicing the Christian faith, and said, unless there is a mass conversion of hearts to follow Christ, we should expect to see the day would come and it would be accepted throughout the west. Lord have mercy on us all.

Mr. Wouter Bos, a former minister of Finance in my country the Netherlands, who is now the MD of one of our country's largest health insurance companies, named Menzis, is very positive about this DE-/ADL-Y initiative from the UK government as he considers the growing large number of elderly people in my country a huge problem for our healthcare costs and the dutch economy in general. Therefore he proposed to STOP providing healthcare after a certain age, also for people who broke their bones. He said litterally: "Give them a wheelchair and plenty of painkillers or propose to euthanize them if the pain is too much. No more expensive and unnecessary operations......" ............... CAN YOU IMAGINE??????? APPARENTLY HUMANITY COMPLETELY LOST ITS HEART AND SOUL!!!!!.
@Triciaellie212Ай бұрын
Thank you, Katherine. I am not sure if our MP’s and the pro killing mob have really thought about the hell this will unleash. At 92, my mum needed a hip operation. Because of her age some surgeons were reluctant to do it, raising concerns she might not survive the surgery, or her mind after might be gaga and unable to recover due to the anesthesia. The reality was if she didn’t have the surgery her quality of life would continue to deteriorate and life expectancy drastically shortened. Some of my siblings felt best not to do surgery and let mum enjoy what time she had left, and others felt surgery her only option. I am sure you can imagine the tension, stress and division amongst the siblings. Thankfully killing her was not an option then. If we had that as a possibility in the mix it would have been an unmitigated nightmare causing even more division with all sides claiming their approach was caring and compassionate and correct. If this bill becomes law, the wars that will break out in families will in many cases be irreparable. My mum is 96, yes she had the surgery and did well! Her children rotate and take time staying with her and looking after her. She often comments she is living in a five star hotel, without the cost. Her kids, my siblings, get multiple opportunities to spend time with her and looking after her, has been an incredible gift for us. Of course we all still see her as our mother, but we also see her as a person and through adult eyes. Sure there are wounds from growing up, and if they come up, which they do, there is an opportunity to see them in a new light with a more mature understanding and compassion - knowing we are all human with flaws, including our mum I am doubly blessed, as about 2 years ago I had a major conversion, reversion to my Catholic faith. I have had the good fortune of sharing with my mum a deeper understanding of our faith and drawing her into a relationship with Jesus. She tells me, I have helped her grow in faith and love for God, which is a blessing. I am even more blessed, because I get to see her as my mother, an individual, and a child of God. We are united not only as mother and child, but we are both God’s children. When I am able to see her as a child of God, I see so differently. I see my lack of patience, odd barb, an anger or bitterness welling up from some childhood stuff, etc, and I see them for what they are - poison - lurking, hidden within me, that if unchecked could simmer and simmer till they manifest outwardly in some damaging way. It is really true when Jesus says it is not what you put in, but what comes out is poison. Truth is if we are trying to live the faith, our closest relationships are where, with God’s grace, we can till the land inside us rooting out the weeds so we can flourish. Even if you don’t have faith, none of my siblings do, they think I might have gone bonkers or something, regardless this time they have had with mum has enriched and transformed their relationship, and brought much laughter and joy. Obviously, Satan doesn’t want that!

@@julietplatt9763 Agree. Beautiful Post. My mother was at the point of death at the age of 92 and was saved by emergency pacemaker surgery. She fell asleep aged 99 earlier this year, peacefully. She had wanted to die for some time, but I used to explain to her that we are in God's Hands and he knows the right time. I watched as in her last years as dementia took hold and when we talked in her Christian Care Home, I shared that her body was wearing out, and her mind was no longer clear, but that her soul was intact and it would have a renewed mind and body in eternal life. Her faith and trust in God grew in her final years on earth. AS had it been in place when she had the pacemaker could have so easily taken away dying at the time ordained by God. My own prayer as I grow older and grow more frail, while living with cancer that I will trust in myself less and turn yet more fully to God to cross the finishing line of this life to step into Glory. One can see that as we get weaker with age it is about preparing us for what is to come for those who believe and trust in Jesus Christ our Saviour. How sad and terrible that we live in a society that cannot say or pray 'Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven' and trust that our Father knows best in all things.

We had missionary priests visit our churches about once a year reinforcing the teachings in no uncertain manner. We went to mass and Sunday school. I served on the alter.my sisters were in the quoir. My eldest brother was the quoir master. My sisters were also in the Legion of Mary. And that was more or less for lots of families. There used to be long queues for confession. Now, you hardly see anyone go to confession. We have seen such a sisemic shift in the way things have gone down the slippery slope. That alway happens when our leaders no longer lead. It has been deverstating to witness. We really need these uplifting talks. We feel that we are not alone in wanting the truth of our beautiful faith in Jesus Christ. God bless you all. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

A very forbidding message, Katherine, but one I fully concur with. The passing of the second stage of the (in effect) Euthanasia Bill, practically guarantees it will become law, and I couldn’t help but sense that this was not only the final nail in the coffin of our once overtly Christian civilisation, but a severing of my citizenship for me personally. I look upon the State now as a foe, feeling completely out of step with it on almost everything. A line was crossed yesterday, and I believe all of us now will be, in the eyes of those who govern us, potential future candidates for assisted suicide, because there are so many ways in which we can become a burden to the State, and if we don’t acknowledge it and voluntarily do the ‘right thing’, then someone else will ‘persuade’ us to. Is it time for Lot to leave, I wonder? But where?

There are still 2 possibilities that the Assisted Dying Bill will not become law. We need to find out what your MP voted at the second reading. If they voted in favour, write to them to try to persuade them to change their mind at the third reading,, a few may do if they get enough letters, and if your MP abstained or was absent the write to persuade them to vote against the bill. Their is also the chance that the House of Lords will stop the Bill.

I am old enough to recall the many assurances made when the abortion law was being considered. There were going to be strict guidelines which would be followed in all cases so that it would be offered only in extreme cases etc. etc. Within a very short time it was offered 'on demand' and everyone knew it. It will be the same slippery slope this time. If an adult cannot be expected to bear a difficult and painful illness then surely children should be spared the same thing. That's next.
@davidritson2961Ай бұрын
Thank you for your courageous speech. My mp is totally in favour of abortion up to any age and for any reason, and voted happily in favour of assisted dying....suicide. Both are against the fifth commandment of God...thou shalt not kill. If you approve of the other translation of this commandment...thou shalt do no murder, then you see how the guilt of those in favour is increased for no matter how one tries to defend abortion and assisted suicide they are both murder. It is as if evil is saying, "if i cant stop you being born in the first place, then I'll kill you before your time; both being under the auspices of "my body, my choice." As for catholics who misguidedly get involved with this assistad dying, how do they get the last rites, or absolution? Are the bishops going to come out with guidelines for this and requiem Masses for those who avail of this suicide? A can of worms has been blown wide open with this vote and the problems have yet to begin to emerge.

The only way God brings ,,good,, is through contrition and repentance and that seems to have gone out of fashion, as it's become a taboo to point fingers for fear of reprisals. You now get locked up for praying, silently, as that means you are figuratively speaking, pointing the finger or. Apparently asking to be cancelled. Priests are becoming redundant due to professional overlap, since the churches have gone Woke. I don't understand how they justify their charges, of schism, when they, themselves, are playing so loose and fast with the tenets of the faith and people are leaving in droves. It seems they still have plenty of reason not to wriggle out of the transparency of their denial, that they have tried to mask, as if they can still convince themselves, in their boldness and baseness that no one has seen, or is seeing what they have become, or are doing, and that they are just being unjustly persecuted victims, even if no one comes to do so, by way of the confessional, or at least not without a clear conscience, to clear their conscience of the mockery they feel, at stepping into the confessional, since the priests are making a mockery of it, themselves. They may have worked themselves out of a job ahead of the end times and the second coming. However, applying yet another layer of Synodal shellac may prove the final, fatal dissolution, and the soul of the church will be released from the death grip of this weird woke heresy., and a new church will be born, that is, if you believe in the possibility that good comes to fruition, even through or because of good things coming from bad, by the will of God.
